NRK must downsize with over 100 man-years next year if there are any license increase in the state budget, as the government wants.
The employees have been told that it can get severance packages if the license is frozen at the 2014 level, writes Dagens Business.
NRK had already warned the government about the need to cut costs 65 million before the national broadcaster was told that it probably will not be any license growth in 2015. With the freeze in the license must NRK cut another 150 million. In addition, increased pension costs of close to 100 million. Altogether must NRK reduce costs by 300 million.
– This is such a high number that we can rely on us natural attrition alone. We envision a workforce reduction of approximately 200 full-time positions, that is what we are working on at the moment, says juss- and Human Resources Olav A. Nyhus in NRK.
NRK in 2013 labor costs of 2.52 billion, spread over 3,693 employees. It accounts for 60 percent of total costs.
NRK’s board will meet on 19 December to adopt next year’s budget. Then, too, the size of NRK license next year be clarified.
