Crime Author Ruth Rendell is dead – Aftenbladet.no

Ruth Rendell is best known for his books about Inspector Wexford, who also created the TV series about. The series is shown on Norwegian television. Rendell is also known for his psychological thrillers.

Ruth Rendell debuted in 1964 with “From Doon with Death”, in which she introduced Inspector Wexford. During its 50-year career as a writer, she wrote more than 60 books. She also wrote under the pseudonym Barbare Vine. Many of her books have come out in Norwegian.

Rendell won numerous awards for his books. In 1991 she was awarded the Norwegian Riverton Club’s Honorary Award.

Labour appointed Rendell to Baroness in 1997, and she was thus also a member of the House of Lords in the British Parliament. Her full title was Baroness Rendell of Babergh.

Rendell was in January this year admitted to hospital after a severe stroke. (© NTB)
