“Captain Jack:” Brilliant Adventure – Aftenposten

“Kyrre Haugen Sydness, Vinjar Pettersen, Odd-Magnus Williamson, Pia Tjelta, Anders Baasmo Christiansen, Jon Øigarden»

Even skeptics can look forward to a grand adventure with Captain Jack on the high seas.

The orphans Pinky (Vinjar Pettersen) will be the new cover boy of the fearsome Sabertooth (Kyrre Haugen Sydness) pirate ship, the Black Lady. He sneaks aboard the ship, which is heading to the legendary Rama Lama to steal gold and gemstones. In Rama Lama advises King Rufus (Anders Baasmo Christiansen), who do not appreciate all his treasures, but who would rather laugh and dance all day long. Behind the scenes wonder his angry brother Prince Badal (Jon Øigarden), who are more than happy to turn hands on the treasure. Jack and the gang are not the only ones on a treasure hunt, and it is thus both intrigue and action of.

Action Filled

The phenomenon Captain Jack was created by Terje Formoe in 1989 for a performance Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park. Since then, it has become both discs, books and movies. The character is both creepy and cool and animates child sized pirate’s dream. Formoe has long since left the helm to others and Haugen Sydness have gestaltet Sabertooth since 2011. He is a solid and good substitutes.

Directors John Andreas Andersen and Lisa Marie Gamlem know that the substance is known to most people, and jump in without much introduction. It works just fine, even for one as far from a Sabertooth expert. The film has a few dead spots, and the story flows nicely from one action-packed segment to the other. Here are the sword fights, fighting, guns and creepy dungeon. It’s real, living and entertaining adventure.

Clear Voice

A recurrent problem in Norwegian films are muddy dialogue and bad sound. The problem is faced not with this production. The film has adopted sound system Dolby Atmos, which means that the cinema can have up to 64 speakers. It is said to lead to a more complex sound.

I’m no audio expert, but the dialogue is in any case clear. The speech drown the sound effects and music, it is clear and easy to get along without sound is shot unnecessarily high. The film is also a display of digital special effects. I had no trouble believing that Rama Lama is the cleanest Eldorado created in precious gold!

Nice mix of humor

The script is written by the experienced Lars Gudmestad, who was behind Headhunters and Fatso . The dialogue in Sabertooth flows smoothly, with a little humor for us adults and much fun slapstick comedy for the younger ones. It is a difficult balancing act, but the humor never tipping over into the banal or platte. Obviously it’s a little fart humor, but not so that it becomes bothersome. The characters are also fun. Here I must point out Jon Øigarden Badal, who is a study in oily. Utterly brilliant and very entertaining.

Captain Jack and treasure Lama Rama is recommended as autumn Norwegian family film. Entertaining, fun, exciting, and not least completely edible even for adults.
