(Page2): Liv Ullmann has been Oscar-nominated twice and is the largest film personality. Now she is current with the film adaptation of August Strindberg’s classic piece “Miss Julie.”
Page2 meet her at Hotel Continental in Oslo in connection with the premiere.
We ask why she chose to just filmed “Miss Julie.”

– I did offer to make an English language film, and should adapters a story about a woman who could easily be “femme fatale.” I’m not sure if Julie is completely “femme fatale”, but it is a wonderfully interesting story, she says.

One of the reasons she chose the story is that she could convey a message she think is important.
– Where could I say what I so would like to say that we must have contact, we must see each other, know that you are seen. This is a great story when it comes to the , she says.

– I already have a script in “A Doll’s House.” Cate Blanchett was with until she got pregnant, it was Kate Winslet ready in two years. So could not I have to wait more, we never got the money we needed, she said.
This was forgotten when she was asked to create a “femme fatale” -adapsjon.
– It never occurred to me. I do not understand, she said.

– I sat with Strindberg and several translations. I took away something and added other parts. Strindberg wrote not all, and since this is an adaptation, I could change anything, she says.

She believes that “A Doll’s House” is difficult to interpret creatively than “Miss Julie.”
– “A Doll’s House” is so clear. “Miss Julie” is clearly in a different way , you can add more imagination. I’ve heard people discuss afterwards whether he loves her or not, and the same about her, she says.

Her attempt to change the “A Doll’s House” was unsuccessful.
– I thought once to make Nora junkie. then one would have understood why she traveled from the kids. But then I read the piece again and realized that no, everything is there so clear that one can not make such interpretations, she says.
