In connection with the shooting of Side2s web-TV series “Totally Raw” had problem leader Helle Bornstein a near-death Opplevelser, when she fell into the river.
It was then Bornstein and Christian Ingebrigtsen experienced clients along the river near Geilo by accident.
Dropped in water
They both sat in the so-called Duckies, which are small rafting rafts, as Helles boat got stuck between some rocks at the edge of the water.
In an effort to free himself, ended Bornstein in the water and had trouble breathing before she was picked up.
The event itself was relatively uneventful. Bornstein was fished out of the river, and after having coughed up some water and had rested a little, continued the recordings.
– Although this was in reality quite undramatic, the feeling of not breathe very uncomfortable and that feeling lasted probably a bit too long. I must admit that panic took me, I could think of that I may not see my children again, says Helle Bornstein.
Got chest pain
Not many hours later got Helle chest pain, and she felt exhausted.
– When I got chest pains afterwards I learned that there is something called secondary drowning, she said.
Secondary drukningn condition that can occur after you have gotten water in the lungs, and often occur through symptoms such as chest pain and feeling of exhaustion.
Secondary drowning occurs frequently after inhalation of saline or chlorine, and can lead to reactions that inhibit or stop lung function up to several hours after the water was inhaled. In case of inhalation of fresh water, however, tend to absorb body fluid on their own.
Helle was still sent to the emergency room for a check to be on the safe side.
– It was a shame that this experience came at the end of the time I paddled, for potholing was a fun experience overall, says Bornstein.
She adds, however, that much of the point of the series “Totally Raw” is to test different challenges and sometimes slightly more extreme activities than others.
– However, as long as safety is the top I feel confident that the challenges ahead will continue to be both raw and fun, she says.
