These paintings were sold for over two million – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): Aune Sand exults over the sale of two of his brother Vebjørn Sands paintings, writes Fredriksstad sheet.

He says that this is gallery Sands single largest sale ever . The buyer is the American businessman Raymond J. Learsy. According to the newspaper, he placed on the list of world’s 200 largest art collectors.

He paid a total paid 2.1 million for the two paintings “Corpsess II” and “The Story of Joseph Schultz” from exhibition “Scenes from the Second World War.”

– One of our main goals when we opened the gallery in New York was to be collected by those who build for museums and future. Raymond Learsy is being listened to and being noticed among those who have heavy positions in art circles in the USA, says Sand told the newspaper.

It should not be the first image Learsy has purchased.

For NRK says the painter himself, Vebjørn Sand, that the three paintings Leary purchased is the finest he has ever created.

There is little twofold. It is fantastic that I have sold these images, while it is a bit sad to split up the collection, says Vebjørn Sand NRK.

According to NRK sold Vebjørn Sand in 2012 his until then most expensive painting for 900,000 dollars.

Vebjørn, twin brother Aune Sand and Marianne Aulie has the last five years driven Gallery Sand in New York.

Dagbladet has not succeeded to obtain Aune Sand.
