Several US media have asked whether Tyldum and film was too shy when they portrayed the British mathematician and cryptographer Alan Turing homosexuality in the film. In an interview with Variety ahead of the Oscars on Monday night, responding to criticism Tyldum.

The Norwegian regiussøren refuses primarily that they showed more explicit scenes in fear of losing the ticket earnings, currently located on 1.2 billion, according to Box Office Mojo.

– It was not because we were afraid that the film would offend anyone. If I have an action with a heterosexual character, I must not have a sex scene to prove that he is heterosexual. If I have a homosexual character with – I must have a sex scene – just to prove that he is gay?

Tyldum meant that it was not relevant to have sex scenes in the movie just to show that Turing was gay.

– He had some sexual partners, but they were few and with large spaces. The only reason to have a sex scene in the movie would have been to sweeten critics who feel that every homosexual character needs a homosexual sex scene.
