OSLO (AP) Monday was Eddie Eidsvåg (54) was appointed this year’s “Alright Guy” by Harry Hole Foundation.
This year ‘ Alright Guy “was Eddie Eidsvåg started Pøbelprosjektet in 1997. The project aims to get young people who for various reasons are without work and education – into work or further education.
– This is awesome. It means a lot to me, says Eidsvåg during the ceremony in Oslo on Monday.
I thought someone fuck with me when Jo rang. I first asked how much money it was, and then when I did some things I thought, “Damn, we need the money to Pøbelprosjektet,” he says and laughs.
– But then I thought I: So exciting to give! This award is helping to support Pøbelprosjektet and to help us to get support from others too. This means a lot, says Eidsvåg.
Director of Harry Hole Foundation, Erik Holst, told VG that Eidsvåg deserves the award after years of work.
– This award goes to the people who run idealistic work and having passed roads other than what is usual. Pøbelprosjektet aims to get young people into work. We think that the job he has done over many years does he deserve to be this year’s “alright guy,” he says.
– Eddie was on the list last year as well, and we saw that he still has his work with good results this year, says Jo Nesbø about choice of this year ålrighte guy.
Increased prize money
Along with Harry Hole Foundation has Eidsvåg decided that the price of one million dollars will go to two recipients: UNICEF project for marginalized children in Costa Rica, and the foundation Zamora Teran project “One Laptop for all” in Nicaragua was established to increase the education of children in underdeveloped areas by integrating ICT in schools.
Since the foundation first awarded the prize in 2009, the prize money has been on 500,000 million, but this year there is talk about a twice as large sum.
– In previous years we have dealt a half million dollars, but now we think that earnings have been so nice after we got the rights to the upcoming books “Blood on the snow” and “Blood on snow 2: Mere blood”, so now we have increased the award to one million, says Holst.
These have been named this year’s “Alright” earlier this year:
2009: Odd-Cato Kristiansen. Financial support went to Naandi Norway, and their work for the education of underpriviligierte, Indian girl child.
2010: Marit Hall. The money went to UNICEF Norway.
2011: Aslam Ahsan and Henning Holstad. The money went to Plan Norwegian school project in Liberia.
2012: Margareth Hatle. The money went to Save the Children’s school project in Zimbabwe.
2013: Walther Jarwson. The money went to Naandi Norway, and their work for the education of underpriviligierte, Indian girl child.
Eddie Eidsvåg little brother hangnail. He started bakery theater at Aker Brygge in 1985, and serves as both baker and standup comedian. He gave in 1997 published the book “Eddies little fresh.” He was last shown with “Not only just bakebok” and since 1997 has run Pøbelprosjektet.
