Fox anchor taken off air after racist comment against Lady Gaga – I did not … – kjendis.no

(Dagbladet): Fox News anchor in Cleveland, Kirsti Capel, is taken off the air out week to have come with a racist comment against pop star Lady Gaga, according to the New York Daily News.

News anchor should have called Gaga music for “jigga music” several times on live TV in a segment where presenters discussed Sunday’s Oscar ceremony in Hollywood.

Gaga appeared during the Oscar party.

“Jigga” is a slang as in the US linked to the term “jiggaboo,” a derogatory word that was previously used for black people.

Several times expressed his admiration Capel that Gaga “could really sing,” and that she had previously only thought her music was “jigga music.” A clearly embarrassed partner tried to smooth over the scene in the studio, but succeeded thus not well enough to avoid reprisals.

Capel, a former Miss Missouri, is taken off the air out this week as punishment from the employer, with the promise that such initiatives will never repeat itself.

– I deeply regret and holidays on my insensitive comment. Honestly I did not know what the word meant and I would never use such hurtful language deliberately. I pray excuse, says Capel to NY Daily News.

– We talked with her and is confident that such a thing will not repeat itself, says news director at Fox station in Cleveland.

Lady Gaga has so far not commented episode.
