Book Review: Reminiscing, death and friendship in the eighth Harry Potter book – Aftenposten

Midway between all deadly spells and almost-fatal time travel is this piece carried by safe, comfortable family values that make a family or group of friends can go hand in hand out of the theater and feel strengthened, lifted and caring.

It alternates between reminiscing in famous Potter Moments, some new facts about old events, and new dramatic events with ethical overtones. The relationship between father Harry and son Albus Severus is the common thread in the history spanning Albus’ first three school years at Hogwarts. And mind you; this is actually theater script – not a novel version of the play.

  • Genre: Adventure
  • Written by: JK Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany
  • Publisher: Little, Brown & amp; Co

Children of Potter and Malfoy

The story begins in the same place as the epilogue of the seventh book; when the couple Harry and Ginny Potter to accompany their middle child Albus Severus to first voyage with Galt Volt Express. Rose Granger-Weasley and Scorpius Malfoy – who are also children of their famous parents should begin in the same class.

Albus is characterized by rebellion against his father, and of his father’s insecurity in fatherhood. Simultaneously, or why, he finds a best friend in Scorpius. This is the best of the play. The most awkward at Potter universe has constantly, both ethically and literary, has been the concept of archenemies, destined enemies only be combated, and never be won as friends. It is sympathetic by Rowling that she let the next generation fix this. Therefore the play goes much further than previous Potter books portray a warm, open and inquisitive “bromance” – close friendship between boys, is both sympathetic and interesting.

Tidsreiser

Albus and Scorpius wants to correct the injustice that Harry has committed, and make more time travel back to the Triwizard Tournament that takes place in the fourth book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Their efforts result in more harm than good, and it occurs along several alternative futures that must be rectified. This implies both comedy and moral lessons.

The plot of the first half is built around Albus ‘rebellion and intricacies around the boys’ use of a prohibited time coming. The title’s cursed children’s Delphi Diggory (Diggory). Her dark background and dangerous plans are mainly in the second half. All contradictions between Potter and Malfoy ceases when they must work together to prevent her.

JK Rowling had to have therapy to cope with the Harry Potter success

Just almost successful

After reading, I am left with three control questions to the book. Sadly, I must answer “no” or “just barely” on all three questions.

If successful author to let Harry leave the stage and baton to the next generation? Just almost. Harry takes account in scenes where we could be waiting less of him. Is the moral of the father-son relationship well integrated into the action? Just almost. Is there a good balance between reminiscing of the previous books and newly written problems and action threads? Only almost, unfortunately.

Reminisce While

I think that the play too much leaning on scenes that we know from the seven previous books. Simultaneously we will respect that theater audiences come just to get a reminisce while, coupled with some new excitement. There is reason to believe that this balance works better as theater experience than that read piece and standalone tale.

As much as I see that piece falls through as an independent work, I see that it is also full of warmth, charm, touching moments and fit profound replikkunst. Lines that already after a day’s about to get his own life in social media. Potter Universe still appears grandiose and ambitious both ethically and magical. But it’s easy to see what authors do to achieve this with a mix of drama, action and comedy.

Now Muggles stay at Hogwarts

Drama Movie touch

The book now available is a play, not a novel. This may be the final breakthrough for us who have long argued that the drama is readable for most people, and we can hope for spin-offs for reading of another drama as well.

Theatre text has taken great inspiration from movies and novels. Film Embossed proves that each scene is short, and makes great demands on effects and stagecraft. Rome Characterized proves that the stage directions very often renders thoughts and feelings.

Cliffhanger

The story consists of two parts. Since the first part ends with a dramatic cliffhanger, it is easy to agree that the public should see both pieces on the same day, as Matine and evening show.

The piece had an official premiere in London on July 30 but have had previews since June 7. Rowling has appealed to fans not to divulge any of the action, and this has largely been followed until now. The play is written by Jack Thorne (37), on the basis that an idea developed by Thorne, Rowling and the play’s director Tiffany. Thorne is an experienced and versatile writer. For Scandinavians it might be interesting to know that he in 2013 dramatized Lindqvists winter-vampire saga Let the Right One In.

The Norwegian edition Harry Potter and the child’s curse is scheduled for 19 October. Experienced Torstein Bugge Høverstad is enough already at work.

Actor Alan Rickman’s death

Rowling poet further

The world’s most famous children’s author company has now back with the eighth book in what we thought was a closed syvbindsverk about apprentice wizard Harry Potter. Rowling is notorious for its tendency to would not let the books, but constantly come up with new drip of details not mention in the books. Some may recall that in 2007, she “revealed” that the headmaster Dumbledore really is gay, although it is not said in the books. An important and sympathetic signal about respect, but characteristic of a writer who does not let books live their own lives.

Cynical Strategy?

It is understandable, both from a heart perspective and a commercial perspective, that Rowling wants to participate in the participation in its fiction that very often takes place in the wake of a popular book and film series. Strikingly, this is still only a preliminary version of the play; the final version will be available in 2017, when the piece and the text has gone to the scene. It must be up to the individual to assess whether this two-version’s solution is a sympathetic response to fans’ demands to access the text as soon as possible, or if it is a cynical strategy to sell twice as many books.

Ketil Bjørnstad: I never thought I’d come close to a woman – Aftenposten

– I have never regretted that I chose out his career as a classical musician, says Ketil Bjørnstad. 64-year-old is the first in the Norwegian bokhøsten, with book number 2 in the series World that was my – 1970s.

– In early 1970, I received a blow fat pianist was in love with French film stars, but who had never progressed beyond shaking hands with Brigitte Bardot. I never thought I’d come close to a woman.

We meet Bjørnstad on his porch in the house along Mosseveien on the way out of Oslo. The author, musician and composer has gone a long way since he lived on in his childhood home in Frogner and was 18 at the start of the decade.

  • First came the drastic slimming cure in 1970 while I was ejected in an environment that was a melting pot of people who wanted to live a meaningful life. We were little concerned about their careers; bachelor’s and master’s degrees were not invented.

Time for rebellion

1970s was the decade of youth rebellion in Norway, when it was allowed to live as a homosexual in Norway, when some rebelled to live like hippies, while some young radicals formed the leftist party AKP-ml who had armed revolution in Norway on the agenda. And it was the decade when Europe was hit by terror, especially from extreme Marxist groups like Baader-Meinhof.

This was Europe’s bloody terror decades before IS and al-Qaeda

– I see the 1970s as freedom decade. In the 1960s came friggjøring of taboos and boundaries. Some of us chose coercion and discipline in the AKP-ml, others chose that I, free flow in a voracious appetite for life. It was a crazy exciting decade. Although my story is special, I also feel that it is universal, says the author.

Young Foxton, was residing in a townhouse in Frognerveien in Oslo, not with wealthy parents, but in a home rich in literature , music and political discussions. The teenager was concerned about what happened around him. He had sympathy for class struggle-seller Kurt stood at Frogner space and sold newspapers. Yes so great sympathy had both Foxton and the danger that they gladly bought the entire stock.

– Dad was a socialist in the deepest sense, I wrote in Aftenposten and stayed at Frogner and was certainly perceived as a Conservative Boy, it was I do not, but I was torn between many camps and stood outside, although I was close, says Bjørnstad.

– He represented everything I longed for

In 1970, his 18-year-old Foxton the five years older Ole Paus. It would be perhaps the decade’s most important meeting for the young multi-talent, who now appeared as a young, slender man, dressed in tomorrow’s fashion corduroy, though not yet with long hair. Young Bjørnstad sought simply the artist he had given brilliant critique, reviewer who he was, for plate Out there – in there.

duo Ketil Bjørnstad and Ole Paus gives us a treasure trove of stunning songs about an important piece of Norway

– he represented everything I longed for freedom, independence, he was well-read, he had a circle of friends that every young person could dream of. He was very generous and took me under his wing. It was always full when he had concerts. Suddenly, in the middle of a concert he asked me to play the last movement of Prokofiev’s 7th sonata. It went very well, despite the fact that it was something completely different from what audience awaited him.

Unlike his older friend, had 18-year Bjørnstad difficulty hijack a girlfriend. In the novel, he writes about the countless azaleas he buys the chosen one, beautiful Aimee went on Nissen school.

– I was extremely romantic, it was really “young Werther.” It was a deep embarrassment that I may know of yet. Simultaneously did that I had a severe that I remember today as something nice. But it is clear, around me there were Dispense time, especially in the theater community.

Debuts in Aula

I1971 debuteterer the 19 year old Frogner boy in the University Aula in Oslo with Prokofiev, Chopin and Beethoven on the program. Already at age 16, he has played with the Philharmonic. But now he is already in the minds of abandoning his career as a classical pianist. He longs for jazz and new music, he writes in the newspapers, the reviewer and he has begun writing poems. He avoids piano teacher Amalie Christie and he avoids her husband Dan Lindholm, a leading anthroposophist that we want him to become Waldorf teacher.

legacy Steiner

The gifted student from Waldorf School in Oslo, never got more education than the seven years on school Hovseter. He is unable to complete high school, partly because he practices so much. Anyway think Lindholm that he could become an excellent teacher so Bjørnstad’s brother eventually becomes. But the young musician still choose to secede from these expectations. He begins to write novels, start mixing music genres, jazz and he starts to compose.

In his new life in Oslo hitting young Foxton many of tomorrow’s key performers and artists. On the city’s restaurants and in homes or studios discussing the literature, music, philosophy, antroposfi, religion image art.

– You can imagine what lesson it was to sit for three hours in the studio for he is coming across, or to sit a whole night with Jens Bjørneboe. Or talking with publishers people Tor Kaare Kvaal, Knut Change Solum and my own publisher in Aschehoug, Harald Vindalen.

Ketil Bjørnstad’s big old house, where he lives with his wife and daughter, is full of pictures, books and memories. Below the veranda is the beach where the waves gurgles summery this July day.

In 1975, he also chose to stay at sea, on Sandøya outside Tvedestrand, an island with 250 residents and no road – really set in Norway as he calls it . Right in the beginning of his new career, he chooses to stay with his then girlfriend who is a craftsman, and he chooses the simple island life.

– It was a sincere desire to live a life that took into account both man and nature. It’s a choice I see many people do today, says Bjørnstad and look beyond summer cheery waves in the Oslo Fjord. On Sandøya they had to periodically go over the ice to get to the mainland in winter.

In sixteen years should Bjørnstad be at Sandøya before he headed for Oslo again.

– It did something with me to stay there. I had time to immerse myself, I am grateful for those years.

It was in Sandøya time Bjørnstad made his major musical work Live Patagonia , published on record in 1978, there several famous Nordic artists participated as Lill Lindfors, Radka Toneff, Olle Adolphson and Cornelis Vreeswijk contributed and where his most famous song exist, “Summer night by the bay.”

– Jaeger was like a lightning bolt

Leve Patagonia is about Kristiania Bohemia, where the author Hans Jaeger was a leading figure, reading anarchist and bohemian Jægers books, published almost a hundred years before his own time, was a crucial experience for the young writer and composer at Sandøya.

– who are these litteraturviterne as the years have kept this book down? asks Bjørnstad in World that was mine, after he read Jaeger novel From Kristiania Bohemia.

– Jaeger was like a lightning bolt in my life . I think he is extremely false and incorrect reading. When we recorded the Live Patagonia in studio in Oslo was all Swedes keen Jaeger. Vreeswijk and Lill Lindfors was shocked bohemian time. It’s about power, when cultural unite ikonisering of some at the expense of great artists.

In the book mentions Bjørnstad Profile gang, where writers like Dag Solstad, Jan Erik Vold, Espen Haavardsholm and Eldrid Lunden was with, as an example of artists with power in their own time.

– for us who stood outside visualized Profile gang a power structure that I did not know existed, they left their mark on time and was very dominant. We stood outside showed little interest in fame and career. I write in the book of Finn Alnæs, which in retrospect have not received the recognition of his life’s work should have been. Many of the writers from the 70s deserves to be read.

– Have you felt at being outside?

– I have it as part of my personality. Meanwhile, I feel a closeness to people I’m working with and friends. As a musician, it’s easier to get inside. A musician must innovate and cooperate all the time. I’m very glad I got to experience it.

– You do not regret that you did not choose to be either a musician or a writer?

– Everyone said I should choose the time early on 70s. Then it was deeply suspicious to hold on in several genres. Now it’s not like that anymore, just look at Magne Furuholmen and Bjarne Melgaard.

How important was the seven years at Waldorf School, your only formal education?

– It was very important year. More and more I’ve realized how important the school is. It has not the Darwinian claim to succeed. There we see a person’s opportunities independently of the map. Some have a complicated relationship with Steiner’n. It is often caused by the human factor, sometimes spoons classes completely. But one must not forget how often this pedagogy succeed and seems liberating for young people.

The productive Bjørnstad planned to write books from every decade of life. World that was my 1960 , published last year, sold well despite some varying reviews. Aftenposten was most negative and believed that the portrait of the father was the highlight of an otherwise sticky matter. VG gave the book five dice and thought that it was a warm and invigorated book and NRK thought it was a likeable start from Foxton.

Last year’s book has sold well, it is already printed in 30,000 copies plus 5,000 pocket. Foxton hoping for similar interest in this year’s book.

– Are you already working on 1980′s?

– Yes, it’s exciting. But I’m tired. I know that this has been a complete discharge and delivery, so I have to dial me a bit.

“American Pie” with substance – Rome Blad

Movie Review: Few, if at all any, portrays youth as Richard Linklater does. Ever since the breakthrough with “Dazed and Confused” has Linklater told about youth momentary and fragile intoxication (often literally) with a responsiveness few others can match. It peaked possibly with last year’s “Boyhood”, where Linklater during a 12-year period depicted both extra- and very ordinary at a normal upbringing.

“Everybody Wants Some !!” he takes for taking the fleeting euphoria macho culture around stipendatleter college in 1980.

the film opens with baseball team spirant Jake, who moves into the house he will share with his teammates during their schooling. During the last weekend before school starts, associate Jake and teammates close ties over their skills, aspirations and common interest for drunkenness and witchcraft.

Off synopsis could “Everybody Wants Some !! “fine gone like a one-way ticket straight into his underpants. God forbid. Linklater removes all traces of stuff before you can say “American Pie.” Yes, the movie is tjåka full of partying, checking and metaphorical penis surveying guys sometimes, but it is not close to being what the film is about. Linklater goes behind sportsidiotien and portraying a collective with eplekjekkaser, which under the ostentatious surface share the same hopes and dreams – and fear of failure. The common consolation find lies in the moment: comradeship, freedom and skjørtejagingen they fully concentrate on – one moment at a time.

The film’s backbone is of course the chlamydia vulnerable comrade collective, which is largely played by debutants or inexperienced actors. The lack of well-known veterans is surprisingly refreshing. Not only does the fresh faces it easier to relate to the characters – because none of the actors have baggage from previous roles, but every one of the film’s key roles is a discovery, pure and simple.

In particular, Glen Powell which gestalts a role best described as a hobby philosophising mouth diarrhea, and lead actor Blake Jenner, a far more subdued type than its noisy blood brothers, impresses large. Fun is also seeing charm troll Wyatt Russell, apparently his father (Kurt) up to death that the film might foremost example of future passers-being.

“Everybody Wants Some !!” is a nearly perfect film on its own terms: Small, funny and charming in FORMEN- tremendous in thematic and emotional resonance.

All captured on film by Linklater, for the nth time in his career demonstrates his own ability to portray youth brutality and folly without mixing in own judgment. A fly on the wall, of the type you hope never flies out the window.

River Fest with Bruce in Frogner Park – Dagbladet.no

CONCERT: is how it goes when that city is so lucky to be allocated more Bruce Springsteen concerts over of “the River” Egeland: This would provide a night where the album is played in its entirety.

Where

Frogner park, Oslo

Attendance

About. 37,000 (sold out)

There are both fighting digg and little letdown at the same time. First and foremost because it takes away some of the unique attraction by Springsteen and E Street Band that is in their, at least apparently, spontaneous and unpredictable track selection and eternal varying set lists.

on the other hand: as fans is much deep tracks gold on “the River” that only occasionally aired live context, one can live a long life as Springsteen fan and set a two-digit number of concerts without ever having had the opportunity to hear “Wreck On the Highway” or “Fade away”. Or any of the foolproof and / or idiotic party or rockabilly songs and dance band gems hidden in this rich, double the 1980 album. So, we can of course discuss about this album is the third, fifth or seventh best album of Springsteen discography.

so how it sounded? Very loud and grumbling on the most uptempo rock songs, almost back a little gubbete in “Sherry Darling”, but also exquisite jingling and becoming recumbent on quieter songs like “Independence Day,” “I Wanna Marry You” and “Fade Away “. The former contained tonight’s first of three “chronicles,” a long chat laid over the gorgeous intro where Springsteen recounted the story of how his father, who he had a ordknap relation to, in his last days had finally recognized his son’s songwriting: He liked best songs was about himself.

songs

1. Meet Me In The City

“The River” in full:

2. The Ties That Bind

3. Sherry Darling

4. JacksonCage

5. Two Hearts

6. Independence Day

7. Hungry Heart

8. Out In The Street

9. Crush On You

10. You Can Look (But You Better Not Touch)

11. I Wanna Marry You / Here She Comes Walkin ‘

12. The River

13. Pointblank

14. Cadillac Ranch

15. I’m A Rocker

16. Fade Away

17. Stolen Car

18. Ramrod

19. The Price You Pay

20. Drive All Night / Dream Baby Dream (Suicide cover)

21. Wreck On The Highway

22. Badlands

23. The Promised Land

24. Lonesome Day

25. Wrecking Ball

26. Because The Night

27. The Rising.

28. Land of Hope And Dreams / People Get Ready (The Impressions-cover)

29. Born In The USA

30. Born To Run

31. Dancing In The Dark

32. Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out

33. Shout (The Isley Brothers cover)

34. Bobby Jean

35. This Hard Land (acoustic)

The title track “The River” was one of highlights, lovely playing, almost worthy if it is allowed to use such a word, Springsteen’s harmonica loudly and powerfully while Nils Lofgren certainly excellent steel guitar could hardly be heard.

as said: the foolproof / idiotic songs have a strange charisma when they served in overall album context, songs like “Cadillac Ranch” and “Ramrod” is delicious stupid in itself , often a bit odd placed between the usual greatest hits set, but perfect here when they are allowed to remain as fat dripping, thick bacon slices right after obscure “Point Blank” or midway between lean, fragile masterpieces as “Stolen Car” (the original version was played here , not the slightly more uptempo outtakeversjonen) and “the Price You Pay”, the latter with Springsteen on 12-string Telecaster and vocal top form. Exciting to see when reporting the E Street Band Ventolin usage published.

Some edged sword this album-in-its-entirety words, but it was striking how it went a sort of sigh of relief through Frogner park when “Wreck on the Highway” toned out and “Badlands” boomed started. So how would a condensed hits seen half hours degenerate? Very many regular mails, but also disappointing many “newer” songs, it is often somewhat anticlimactic when “Lonesome Day”, “Wrecking Ball,” “The Rising” and “Land Of Hope And Dreams” is forced into a rather short sequence, they have much in common in dynamics and feeling.

So where disappears the last dot on the dice? Can he fall in form since dice six in Trondheim? This reviewer did not Granåsen concert, but have certainly seen Springsteen better, more active and vocal in significantly better shape several times. The sound of all the stage in Frogner Park was little gripe, some coarse and rough exceptions notwithstanding, but it was badly behind the trees and far behind, big screen about one second out of synch with the audio. And then there are enough 20 tracks where you always know which song that comes as the next a little mood killer, even though most of today’s best E Street achievements came here.

Bourne hits – the heart – Rome Blad

Eight years (and the slightly undervalued spin-off “The Bourne Legacy”) have come and gone since the last Jason Bourne killed someone on film. Since then, the questions rained down on whether Matt Damon could imagine an encore that role he was “Bourne to Play” (duh, journ.anm.)

The answer was obviously yes.

the question now is proof it was. With “The Bourne Identity” (2002), “The Bourne Supremacy” (2004) and “The Bourne Ultimatum” (2007) stood Damon in front of a spy series so raff and trendsetting that even James Bond had into rehab. Damon and “Supremacy / Ultimatum” director Paul Greengrass has short, everything to lose in a fourth movie.

Fortunately, they have taken the chance.

Bourne have regained memory, and living in hiding for the US government, which is still bitter at the unveiling of the shadowy CIA programs Blackbriar and Treadstone. But when Bourne gets wind that the CIA is again started with assembly line production of human killing machines, he is forced out of the shadows. Further intensification he gets that the new program, Iron Hand, related to his late father.

“Jason Bourne” is definitely the weakest in the series so far. As action movie with birth 2016 it still is hard to find anywhere near equivalent. “Jason Bourne” is an adrenaline-driven fist aimed at the senses, pummeling the man begs for mercy. Not that this cement mixer nervous system has no plans to waive the request.

do as the series has never been away: The movie jumps right into the same raw and handheld style it was the standard bearer for the last time. The theme is again spun around Bourne’s identity and anguish at their own timber, interspersed with a moral tangle or two about surveillance society and moral decadence among those who are set to maintain it. Bourne’s remorse and self-loathing also get far more space to frolic on than before.

Damon and Greengrass vowed expensive and holy that they would not make a fourth “Bourne” unless they had something spectacular to tell. That promise has the broken. There is little in the “Bourne Identity” as the series has not been visited before. Not to say that there is nothing to be gained “Bourne” equivalents to a “best of” disc. It takes a good deal of cynicism in order to not go amused over what you just experienced when Mobys “Extreme Ways” tradition initiates the marquee. The fans will at least feel taken. Right in the heart.

The marquee has otherwise impeccable timing. Two hours of “shaky-cam” -action accompanied by innklippsbilder from the CIA’s high-tech surveillance center where the money men barking orders and get words like “affirmative” and “copy that ‘in return, borders gradually to parody. The film’s climax is also least 30 car crash too far and becomes more a kind of consumer spending for the budget money to spare than a worthy sentence on an intense and tightly packed thriller.

But yes: “Bourne ” I’m back. And once again shows Damon action movies in general and especially James Bond, the shots. Last time responded Bond with “Casino Royale.” If Jason Bourne again be the guiding star in a similar renaissance spy genre has Damon and Greengrass’ gamble gained huge profit.
