TV review “Anno”: Catchy past escape – VG

Fire may have relegated, but Bergen lick their wounds with “Anno”, which appears as NRK new ego masturbation program for Bergen. For the rest of us it is good old-fashioned conflict reality.

“Anno» Norwegian reality series in 30 parts

Ready NRK1 Mondays and Wednesdays at. 19.45 and Fridays at. 19.55.

Note: The first three episodes sent January 1 pm. 20.10, 19.55 and 2 January 3rd January at. 20.40

2014 was the year TVNorge failed badly with his past reality “The Last Viking” and TV2 dispatched ages “The Farm” -season. Meanwhile, NRK developed their own twist on nostalgia reality: “Anno”.

Here travels 14 participants 250 years back in time. They live in a gated apartment building in the middle of Bergen, where they will acquire knowledge and skills that were edible in 1764, and through 10 weeks, they compete against each other about who is best and who bust out. The goal is to become the best citizen in the city which at the time was the nation’s navel.

Casting gold

“Mastered you time, mastered the game, “fairs Lasse LINDTNER dypsobre narration over åpningsvignetten while the camera plunges into a clockwork, music thunders on, and we’ve seconds think we’ve ended up in” Game of Thrones “-land.

But there is not “Anno”. We get however a quick and effective introduction to most participants. And it is here that early glimmers of gold.

We meet model Enoch (30) who says he is good at fencing and sew and constantly thinks he best in mostly because he has been 10 years in scouting. Carl-Arne (32) have 1700s as a hobby and recently won one costume award for his alias, Marquis de Camembert, while artist Tore (68) has the sense of time because “There were men men and women women.”

Before 10 minutes have passed you realize that here is likely to knickknacks and conflicts. And it gets it too. That you already after three episodes have been able to annoy you greatly over several people, is a very good sign in this genre.

Many items

In addition NRK has placed a “Who do you think you are” element, where each participant is presented with a dose genealogy during the competition. It is not as resilient as cast, but will certainly appeal to feelgood eager viewers and securing a pair of eyes moist.

There are many similarities with “The Farm.” In “Anno” is admittedly tournaments and duels instead of single combat, Bergen city instead of farmlands and tasks instead of weekly assignments. But the essence is the same. It is about seeing our past through contemporary eyes. And hopefully to experience the beginnings of both love and war.

Person drama and competitions divided by trained info segments of the participants to learn. Here we get a mix of archival and staged historical tableaux illustrating themes.

Also in parts of competitions and tasks played the plays that are just Kleint to watch as “market” scenes in “The Farm” .

The presenter Selda Ekiz we see very little in the first few episodes, but what she does, she does for steady and forthright manner.

NRK obvious advantage when they wagering 33 million in such a production, is that they both have a large and a large older viewer base. “Anno” may captivate history delighted viewers who normally avoids advertising channel reality.

“Anno” tipping in his era seriously occasionally over the parodic and one laughs as much of that with the participants. But the result is nevertheless entertaining.

The review is based on three episodes.
