Skavlan criticism: – Not our intention to harass Åkesson – VG

Fredrik Skavlan says that he was prepared responses, but not the degree of involvement, after being interviewed by Sweden Democrats Erna party leader Jimmie Åkesson.

The criticism him has been massive for the interview with the sick leave Sweden Democrats party leader Jimmie Åkesson in Friday’s “Skavlan.”

There are questions that this Norwegian TV viewers have responded to:

– I think part of the phraseology that has emerged, and as you know all too well yourself. From both candidates and representatives from your own party, both before and after your “zero tolerance for racism” has characterized with words like parasites, Jew swine, locusts and knock coatings. These are words to use about people from other ethnic groups?

– These are words I do not stand behind, and you know it, replied Åkesson.

– No, but it is your people? They represent you?

– No, they definitely do not.

– But they’re from Sweden Democrats?

– Says they like, they are not there anymore.

Appeals Storm

Broadcasting Council secretary Erik Berg-Hansen says to VG that it approaches a complaint storm after Friday program and that it is among the 8-10 programs in recent years that have received the most complaints.

Progress parliament Christian Tybring-Gjedde is among those who have responded brightly.

– Never more “Skavlan”! Fredrik Skavlan harassment SD leader Jimmie Åkesson in the evening program was a shame for NRK, he writes on Facebook.

Skavlan match following criticism in an e-mail to VG:
>

– It’s like a law of nature that political interviews are always wrong in someone’s eyes, whether they are for “cozy” or “tough” writes Skavlan.

– It has often linked with where viewers themselves stand politically. It was not our intention to override or harass Åkesson, but grabbing the harsh political climate he uses as an explanation for their burnout. Many believe SD by its phraseology and use of force has contributed to just this, continues Skavlan.

– I was prepared for the reactions, but not the degree of involvement.

Sick leave

It was in October last year leader of the Sweden Democrats Jimmie Åkesson was sick indefinitely because of a fatigue syndrome. In an open letter which was reproduced in the Swedish media told Åkesson at the time that the job as party leader has long been tough, and that work naturally is tiring in itself.

IN DETAIL: – We briefer not guests on issues in detail but give them a briefing on the topic. So also with driven politicians, responding Skavlan on VG questions about Jimmie Åkesson learned the questions in advance.

– But above all, it has also been so much else around who has stolen energy and depleted physically, and not least psychologically. Our adversaries untiring effort to stop our progress, the media many times obnoxious campaign journalism and extremists insatiable hatred, are some examples, he said last fall.

Sweden Democrats got support of 12.9 percent and became the third largest party during parliamentary elections in Sweden in September.

Åkesson has not hidden the fact that he has struggled with major serious problems since he was sick. Skavlan replies on VG question whether there against this background was necessary to go so set to work:

– It depends on what you mean by “set to work.” Åkesson wanted to tell about it openly back tiled illness absenteeism. Since this was also his re-entry into politics, we considered it essential to additionally ask relevant political issues. Not least in light of the party and his own complicity in the crisis that nearly topple the Government of Sweden.

– Is it easier to “get” a man in this way because he belongs to the right side?

– No. The goal is never to “get” people, but to answer legitimate questions

– Was Åkesson informed about issues that would come in advance?

– We briefer not guests on issues in detail, but give them a briefing on the topic. So also with driven politicians.

– acted as Swedish journalist

The reactions to Friday’s “Skavlan” has been both sharp and massive. During Saturday have many complaints over the application has been submitted to the Broadcasting Council. The opinions have almost been queuing in comment fields. Skavlan says to VG that he has not read these. However, he has received many reactions directly and writes that it has been all conceivable reactions.

– expectations have probably been different in Norway and Sweden, given that Åkesson is more famous and controversial in Sweden. Much of the criticism in Sweden came after the program was recorded, but before anyone had seen it. This is because many believed it was wrong to invite the party leader in our studio. The criticism surprised me probably most, since such an attitude to me contrary to democratic principles, writes Skavlan VG.

Jimmie Åkesson not want to say anything about how he experienced the interview with Fredrik Skavlan to VG.

– In Sweden we have long had a more positive image of Norwegian media, but yesterday appeared Skavlan as a Swedish journalist, writes Henrik Vinge press officer Sweden Democrats, in an sms to VG.
