Last year witnessed NRK with a real failure in viewer figures around låtkonkurransen MGP, as only 755,000 chose to follow the final in Oslo Spektrum. It was the all-time worst set.
This year, revenge, with 1.25 million viewers. It is the highest figure for the ESC final since 2011.
Less competition
Project Stian Malme NRK says to own channel that he is delighted with the figures, which gave a market NRK nearly 69.8 percent Saturday night.
– It is formidable, and incredibly fun for Norwegian music. We know that there is great interest in Eurovision in Norway, says Malme.
He explains viewer’s with better communication out ahead of the final, a good show and with the proliferation of genres, but admits that competition from other channels enough was not as hard as previous years.
Dropped finals
The duo Morland and Debrah Scarlett won the regular-finals with his ballad “A monster like me,” and will thus represent Norway in the international finals of Eurovision. It runs in Vienna last week in May.
After many years of finals scattered throughout the country or in Oslo, NRK chose to only arrange one final eleven performers this year. Stian Malme do not think that this has affected viewer figures.
– We have had high ratings on dolphin alone before, and there is great probability that they come back again another year, says Malme NRK.
According to the channel analysis department is the average age of those who followed the finals Saturday night 48 years. The highest viewer share are among the teens.
Also Swedish success
The Swedes also held its final in Melodifestivalen Saturday night. Måns Zelmerlöw won sovereign with his song “Heroes”, which is now plagued by allegations of plagiarism by David Guetta song “Lovers on the sun.”
The Swedish finals were attended by the entire 3.7 million viewers, too a solid increase from last year’s 3.3 million.
