Aleksander Hetland is “Masters champion” in 2015 – VG

After a thriller of a finale could Aleksander Hetland (32) lift your arms above your head.

Through ten weeks earlier sporting heroes fought against each other in a variety of demanding exercises. One by one they have had to leave the competition.

Smoothly run

Rat Race began as participants were awakened at dawn by presenter Dag Erik Pedersen to fight against each other in the competition “Cold Shower”. The exercise should participants stand on a balance board while they got freezing water washed over his head.

Aleksander Hetland lost his balance first, but it became an even match between Frode Andresen and Mette Solli. Both were clearly affected by the cold shower. Finally had Solli throw in the towel due to pain in the head caused by the icy water. That led to Andresen won exercise and got a head start to the other participants.

– I’m glad I have a lot of hair. It was almost like a small woolen cap, said Frode Andresen in the program.

Aleksander Hetland admits that he had no chance against the two competitors. Mette Solli tells VG that she had dreaded exercise and that she hates the cold.

– I tolerate pain well, but it was extremely painful. I remember thinking that I could not more, while it was very unkind to give up, says Solli.

In final-second exercise should participants take strike one trail with several different challenges. Frode Andresen started first, while Mette Solli and Aleksander Hetland started respectively 30 seconds and one minute after.

There was a steady competition between Frode Andresen and Mette Solli, but Andresen built all the way to the finals and made with it that also this season’s finale was a pure gentleman duel.

– I’m happy with third place, but I would have been in the finals, says Mette Solli VG adding:

– I’m still a little upset about myself. It’s nice to be careful, but is it possible somehow … I used too long and were all too perfectionist. Had I only found as large stones and put them on top of each other so it might have gone differently, says Solli who are grateful for the time she got in the program.



Men Duell

During the decisive obstacle course it should be smoother than ever. Roommates Aleksander Hetland and Frode Andresen stood face to face in what they both refer to as dream final.

In the first exercise should they cause a metal ring along an energized steel. Frode Andresen was most steady hand and could run towards the next hurdle. Aleksander Hetland came heels and the two stood side by side in the next competition when they were digging in the sand under two walls. Having dug under the walls, the two ensure victory by smashing a jar of ten meters of rock.

In the very first attempt hit Frode Andresen jar suspension and he was close by taking victory. In the thrilling finale to the two creep several times back and forth until it finally was Aleksander Hetland hit flashes:

– There is a really cool bonus to have won, says Hetland VG.

The former swimmer appreciate having come so far in the competition.

– One of the best thing about having been with was feeling the competitive nature again. It is not often that one gets to be nervous on the way in everyday life, says Hetland.

Frode Andresen on their side, is happy to have been in the final against just Hetland.

– Just when flask shattered it was a bit boring, says Frode Andresen who begrudge Hetland victory, adding:

– I predicted Aleksander wins before we traveled down, and he predicted that I won. It was a very even race.



Worthy winners

Host Dag Erik Pedersen says that both finalists were worthy winners.

– Based on what had happened in the other 29 exercises, there was no doubt that Frode in the eyes of many a favorite to take home the victory. It shows what a huge winning mentality Aleksander Hetland is, it was incredibly impressive to see how lit but amicable they were.

– There were two heroes who met in an epic finale. Alexander is a very worthy winner. He has shown good attitude, humility and he has been one that has given absolutely everything all the time, says presenter Dag Erik Pedersen.

The two finalists have already planned the possibility of revenge.

– I’ll take revenge at Easter. Then I and Alexander walk five mil skiing on Beito, and I have a good feeling, says Andresen fooled.

Aleksander Hetland has also competed sports heroes as Tora Berger, Kari Schibevaag, Pål Gunnar Mikkelsplass, Jahn Ivar “Mini” Jakobsen, Lars Bystøl, Monica Valen, Marit Mikkelsplass and Harald Brattbakk.
