600 live broadcasts
Self says Ole Torp that closure is sad.
– As a journalist I would say that it is sad of “News” will be added down, it is a program that has operated in the middle of the heartland of NRK’s social mission. After about 600 live broadcasts there hath made both with the public and among society. We have steadily viewing figures on ITV2, and draws many viewers narrower programs on the channel, Torp says Dagbladet.
New Director of NRK, Per Arne Kalbakk, stressing that Torps program will be replaced by another debate program.
NRK wagering younger
– I can confirm that “News” disappears at year end. But it is not to save money. It is important for me to emphasize that “News” will be replaced by another debate program, he said.
NRK considered the situation dithet that “debate”, “Dagsnytt 18″ and “News” had for equal catchment among viewers.
Torp former correspondents in the US and China and presenter of “Urix” on ITV2. He takes the opportunity to commend colleagues in «News» -redaksjonen.
– For my own part, I must say that it is sad to quit working in a small editorial with fenomelt clever and funny colleagues. But I think I’m standing there across in my rather long journalistic career, I’ve been in tougher situations, Torp says.
It was earlier this winter speculated that “News” could lie on cut block to NRK chief Thor Gjermund Eriksen. He must save huge amounts in the current year, and has imposed NRK News to find 18 million they can do without.
– Good luck with everything
A number of famous news reporters smote ring around Torp and praised «News» as one of the most important and best news programs, even before the closure was a fact.
– It will be exciting to see what management gets to when they are developing a program concept that will be more interesting for the young, and provide as many viewers as “News” has now, Torp says.
He reminds NRK management to not forget the adults viewers midst pursuit of youth.
– And I hope obviously bosses manage to get something for the adults too. The adults deserve the most debate programs they pay a license. I wish the editors luck with all this, says Torp.
