(Dagbladet): – When we got new bosses TV 2 I sat as 52-year-old and thought: Ah, now bursting it.
Dorthe Skappel (52) sits on the café on the other side of the street for 2 TV building in Karl Johans gate in windstopper, sweater and shoes with spikes, but with TV 2 makeup face and hairdresser wavy hair.
– It did not. It was just the opposite, she says.
– Age no barrier
Dorthe Skappel has been a presenter of “Good evening Norway” in over 15 years. Her many seating positions in the famous TV sofa has been loved and hated.
Now the program is renewed. Couch replaced the logo is new, the program should have a clearer novelty touch and it will every week be a guest on a visit to the gym.
But despite major visual changes, does not Skappel themselves.
– We are a secure platform for 2 TV, she says, as if she has the same PR adviser Solberg-government, and continues:
– We are also a safe source of income . Taking away it would have been silly. Since I’ve been there for 16-17 years, so I have become a big part of the program that they wanted that I should continue to be there. It is really nice to see that age is not a hindrance.
– Not diva for nothing
– Several have previously claimed that TV 2 is not an ideal workplace for women over 40?
– I’ve never felt that neither age nor gender has been an obstacle. I feel that TV 2 has appreciated that I have developed my way, she says, with the knowledge that her new bosses are going to read this interview.
– I have no journalistic background, I have not really other than the school of life. But they see that I have developed myself and that I have followed in hours. I do not think necessarily that age is thing. I think it’s rather kind of program to create, and how to do it, that counts. Everyone can not be 20 years, she says.
When cabinet Fur TV bosses said they would bet on the entertainment program, so Skappel their chance to exploit the goodwill. To mark the new visual uniform would Skappel beat the big drum.
– I said to them: “I am not diva TV2 for nothing”, and then I got triumph through that it would be rolled down a giant poster of me on the front page of TV 2 building Karl Johans gate, she says.
– Oi. And it was your idea?
– Yes. Here goes one “all in”.
Has become more private
When Dagbladet meet her, she will be happy to talk about that she has two sides. She is glamorous with big G on TV, but on the home front, she likes best to go with slippers and being out in the woods.
– You are celebrity itself, and leads a celebrity program. Has the role changed?
– Yes, it has. I know that in many ways I’ve become a bigger celebrity than I was before, because people see me on TV over and over again, and because I’ve had the program for so many years. I notice myself that I become more and more private, she said, linking arms to his chest.
All Weather is still on.
– It is not because I have anything against sharing of my life, but it becomes more and more important that mine is mine. What I do on the parlor I do with my little circle, with those I care about and love. I will not show on Facebook and Instagram, she continues.
– Wish they had another mom
– What do you think about that your daughters have also chosen to be public figures?
– When a child of a famous person, so you grow up in celebrity life for good and bad. They had enough times in their lives both where they really wish they had another mom. Until they outgrew their own personalities, and found their own space, so I reckon that it was quite tiring, she says.
She mentions an episode where one of her daughters had party at home, and discovered that one of the partygoers went around the house and took pictures.
– It is clear that when one feels unimportant. I have tried to tell them that they should be careful with things, if you share with the world your joy, then they also sorrows.
– Are you tired of being on TV?
– I’ve been tired a hundred times. Keeping on with a program for many years is safe, but it can also quickly become boring. Man has done the same things many, many times before. But because of that we replace reporters and bosses who expect and demand more, then I challenge myself all the time, and then I develop myself too. That’s what’s fun.
– How long will you do this?
– I’ll be in “Good evening Norway» till I retire, I .
– Yes?
– Why not? I’m not worried about it now, in any case.
– Must pay attention in class
Dorthe Skappel worry nor that people are going to stop watching TV 2. She has been in business for many years and been with both the good and the bad times in media-Norway.
– The fact is that TV 2 last year has never had more viewers, she says, and continues:
– So it is not necessarily so things disappear, nor is it so things change. Change is challenging and exciting, not necessarily negative. I think that we just need to pay attention in class, and try to be in the arenas new viewers want us to be on.
– How has television industry evoked in the years you’ve been there?
– I do not know if I can answer specific on it. I have no good explanation, you just notice it gradually. It’s a bit like getting older. You do not see that you are older before you see how it was 20 years ago. So it is with TV also, she says.
She also admits that it is challenging the major TV 2 cameras are no longer as powerful.
– Now all phones with camera. And it is also a challenge that celebs even control what they post on Instagram, she says.
– Do we still use for celebrity journalism?
– I think so. Today we have access to everything you want, you can go to get their box and watch the entire “Game of Thrones” on stairs, for example. But I think that many think it is lovely to turn on the TV and get served something. It’s still nice to be entertained, and get something you do not quite know what is ahead, she says.
