For years, the Swedish actor struggled with alcohol and drug abuse. Now he reveals that life was tougher than what appeared in the media.
During his career, Mikael Persbrandt (52) created numerous headlines for his dissolute life.
Two years ago he was partly convicted of drug offenses and given 75 hours of community service after he allegedly bought 12 grams of cocaine from a person in a major drug league.
My Brandt has always denied guilt – but he was not believed.
Now he opens up about the turbulent era of “Skavlan”. In the season premiere talking actor out to Fredrik Skavlan, who is his partner to his own ex-girlfriend, Maria Bonnevie.

VG’ve got a clip from the season premiere, airing on SVT and NRK tomorrow, where the skandaleombruste the star among other things explains that things were much worse than it appeared.
– Blaming other
Although the headlines of the less pleasant cultivar has been many, reveals Persbrandt that the press in both home and abroad have only reported tip of the iceberg in terms abuse over the years.
– It was much worse, of course. No smoke without fire. I have scolded the media for all these years and will perhaps continue to do so. But I think I’m done with it. They can write whatever the hell they want, says 52-year-old in the program and appears relaxed.
Even claiming the actor that in principle could have been written articles on he every day, if the public had been informed of what he used to do his time.
– Deliver one like I did, then you become adept at defending themselves, blame someone else and take everything from large to small lies. It characterizes the one’s whole life, he said.
Persbrandt confides that at a possible time was “black as night” and that he did not know how he could bear to get up in the morning.

“Skavlan” explains the actor that he has been sober for over 600 days, and that he not miss the alcohol at all.

– it has been an amazing journey in 16 months. Not smoking, no alcohol, nothing. It is very lovely, he said earlier this summer.
He also explains how drugs and alcohol for a long time was used as self-medication, but that this part of life now a closed chapter.

the actor has for years been the boyfriend of Sanna Lundell.
Lundell has also been openly and explained about the great challenges of living with an addict life partner. Among other things, she has a separate suite on TV explained that they broke up “certainly 20 times.”
