The Red Carpet?

But there is a long way for Denstad Langlo before it eventually become clear whether there will be a red carpet or not in February 2017.

According to NTB get manufacturers for the three films now present their plans for a possible Oscar campaign for the Norwegian Oscar Committee. The committee of eight people then decide which of the three films that will represent Norway in the battle for the coveted statuette for best foreign language film. The final Norwegian Oscar candidate announced on Wednesday 7 September.



Handed out in February

From 1 October considered the non-English language films of the American film academy before selecting six of them to his short list. Then add Executive Committee for three more films to the list, which in all shall consist of nine films.

A committee on the east coast and one on the west coast of the US then looks the nine productions and selects the five to be Oscar-nominated. Who the five will be announced on January 24 next year. The Oscars will be held on Sunday 26 February

Former Norwegian films that made the grade and been nominated is Kon-Tiki (2013), Elling (2001), Søndagsengler (1996), the Wizard (1987) and Ni Liv (1957).
