Karita Bekkemellem says she has known the challenge by sharing the care of children after divorce.

SEOGHØR.NO: The former Children and Family Affairs of Labor, Karita Bekkemellem (50), received this week an honorary award from the Association 2 Parents.

The award she received for its commitment to equal parenthood while she was minister.

Bekkemellem have experienced the challenges breakups can offer, when the two parties have common children. There she tells Dagbladet.

In 2005, she was separated from Jon Orheim after 11 years of marriage, and that time was their children, Julia and Christian, respectively 9 and 11 years old.

– We have divided it so that kids have had equal access to mom and dad. That amounts to much overlap and logistics, but it has been important for both to have a closeness to the children, and to share in the care tasks, says Bekkemellem Dagbladet.

Mother of two, which currently is the CEO of pharmaceutical industry, does not deny that having children with shared custody, can be difficult and painful.

– Neither new legislation or contribution system can remedy the grief of not being present in the juvenile life. That you suddenly do not have the lunch box to lubricate every morning, she says candidly told the newspaper.

Today, both children Bekkemellem adults, and these days she enjoys and Stein Røsberg – who she married in 2007 – life in the countryside outside Moss.

– I am confident in myself and those I have around me, and have never really had it better, told an exuberant obvious Karita to See and Hear in 2013.
