Book Review: Reminiscing, death and friendship in the eighth Harry Potter book – Aftenposten

Midway between all deadly spells and almost-fatal time travel is this piece carried by safe, comfortable family values that make a family or group of friends can go hand in hand out of the theater and feel strengthened, lifted and caring.

It alternates between reminiscing in famous Potter Moments, some new facts about old events, and new dramatic events with ethical overtones. The relationship between father Harry and son Albus Severus is the common thread in the history spanning Albus’ first three school years at Hogwarts. And mind you; this is actually theater script – not a novel version of the play.

  • Genre: Adventure
  • Written by: JK Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany
  • Publisher: Little, Brown & amp; Co

Children of Potter and Malfoy

The story begins in the same place as the epilogue of the seventh book; when the couple Harry and Ginny Potter to accompany their middle child Albus Severus to first voyage with Galt Volt Express. Rose Granger-Weasley and Scorpius Malfoy – who are also children of their famous parents should begin in the same class.

Albus is characterized by rebellion against his father, and of his father’s insecurity in fatherhood. Simultaneously, or why, he finds a best friend in Scorpius. This is the best of the play. The most awkward at Potter universe has constantly, both ethically and literary, has been the concept of archenemies, destined enemies only be combated, and never be won as friends. It is sympathetic by Rowling that she let the next generation fix this. Therefore the play goes much further than previous Potter books portray a warm, open and inquisitive “bromance” – close friendship between boys, is both sympathetic and interesting.

Tidsreiser

Albus and Scorpius wants to correct the injustice that Harry has committed, and make more time travel back to the Triwizard Tournament that takes place in the fourth book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Their efforts result in more harm than good, and it occurs along several alternative futures that must be rectified. This implies both comedy and moral lessons.

The plot of the first half is built around Albus ‘rebellion and intricacies around the boys’ use of a prohibited time coming. The title’s cursed children’s Delphi Diggory (Diggory). Her dark background and dangerous plans are mainly in the second half. All contradictions between Potter and Malfoy ceases when they must work together to prevent her.

JK Rowling had to have therapy to cope with the Harry Potter success

Just almost successful

After reading, I am left with three control questions to the book. Sadly, I must answer “no” or “just barely” on all three questions.

If successful author to let Harry leave the stage and baton to the next generation? Just almost. Harry takes account in scenes where we could be waiting less of him. Is the moral of the father-son relationship well integrated into the action? Just almost. Is there a good balance between reminiscing of the previous books and newly written problems and action threads? Only almost, unfortunately.

Reminisce While

I think that the play too much leaning on scenes that we know from the seven previous books. Simultaneously we will respect that theater audiences come just to get a reminisce while, coupled with some new excitement. There is reason to believe that this balance works better as theater experience than that read piece and standalone tale.

As much as I see that piece falls through as an independent work, I see that it is also full of warmth, charm, touching moments and fit profound replikkunst. Lines that already after a day’s about to get his own life in social media. Potter Universe still appears grandiose and ambitious both ethically and magical. But it’s easy to see what authors do to achieve this with a mix of drama, action and comedy.

Drama Movie touch

The book now available is a play, not a novel. This may be the final breakthrough for us who have long argued that the drama is readable for most people, and we can hope for spin-offs for reading of another drama as well.

Theatre text has taken great inspiration from movies and novels. Film Embossed proves that each scene is short, and makes great demands on effects and stagecraft. Rome Characterized proves that the stage directions very often renders thoughts and feelings.

Cliffhanger

The story consists of two parts. Since the first part ends with a dramatic cliffhanger, it is easy to agree that the public should see both pieces on the same day, as Matine and evening show.

The piece had an official premiere in London on July 30 but have had previews since June 7. Rowling has appealed to fans not to divulge any of the action, and this has largely been followed until now. The play is written by Jack Thorne (37), on the basis that an idea developed by Thorne, Rowling and the play’s director Tiffany. Thorne is an experienced and versatile writer. For Scandinavians it might be interesting to know that he in 2013 dramatized Lindqvists winter-vampire saga Let the Right One In.

The Norwegian edition Harry Potter and the child’s curse is scheduled for 19 October. Experienced Torstein Bugge Høverstad is enough already at work.

Rowling poet further

The world’s most famous children’s author company has now back with the eighth book in what we thought was a closed syvbindsverk about apprentice wizard Harry Potter. Rowling is notorious for its tendency to would not let the books, but constantly come up with new drip of details not mention in the books. Some may recall that in 2007, she “revealed” that the headmaster Dumbledore really is gay, although it is not said in the books. An important and sympathetic signal about respect, but characteristic of a writer who does not let books live their own lives.

Cynical Strategy?

It is understandable, both from a heart perspective and a commercial perspective, that Rowling wants to participate in the participation in its fiction that very often takes place in the wake of a popular book and film series. Strikingly, this is still only a preliminary version of the play; the final version will be available in 2017, when the piece and the text has gone to the scene. It must be up to the individual to assess whether this two-version’s solution is a sympathetic response to fans’ demands to access the text as soon as possible, or if it is a cynical strategy to sell twice as many books.
