MGP Agnete canceling concert in Sami festival – replaced by Spellemanprisvinner – Nordlys

Due to personal reasons, Agnete Johnsen scratch.

With only three weeks to festival start release Márkomeannu news that Agnete Johnsen canceling their concert. But festival director, Marita Eilertsen, despair not. She promises an exciting concert with himself Niko Valkeapää.

– It’s so clearly a dreary message to get, but we are looking forward to showcase Niko Valkeapää to festival audiences our smiles Festival Director Eilertsen.

Niko Valkeapää raised in Hetta in northern Finland, a region that borders both Norway and Sweden. He stood on stage the first time 7 years old, along his mother and his godfather Nils Aslak. He won the Sámi Grand Prix in 1994 and 1995 and released their first album in 2003 – he won the Norwegian Grammy for Best in Open Class.

Since then he has released five albums to, moving through various genres like pop, rock, jazz, electronica, americana, blues and world music, but always with a distinctive sound that makes all music unmistakably Niko Valkeapää music. In 2015 came his sixth album, “RAFI – Tranquility” out and he says even he finally found himself in this album.

– the public will certainly experience a style change by Niko in his latest album . He’s gone back to his roots, and I experience music as very emotional, says Eilertsen.

personal reasons

Agnete Johnsen canceling personal reasons, and says in a e-mail to the festival that she hopes to come back on another occasion.

Márkomeannu held 28.-31. July at Gállogieddi Evenes municipality.
