The samples in this year’s edition of The Saint Olav Drama is well underway.

Trond Espen Seim plays the king and tells him that he looks at the task with a certain awe.

– I have played a lot of things before, but never a king, I think, so there are quite something completely new. But anyway, king or plumber, people are people.

Part of the show’s ensemble replaced annually. In addition to Seim as new king shall include Ingar Helge Gimle play the role of the farmer Torgeir Stain and Hanne Tømta is new instructor.

Only a man

The Battle of Stiklestad in 1030 was a turning point for the establishment of Christianity in Norway. For the new king is important to find the human by Olav Haraldsson.

– the format is very large and it’s about trying to humanize it. We are working to find those places there are proper interaction between the characters. He was only human.

Instructor Tømta believes Seim bring something new to it.

– Any actor will the create their flesh-and-blood, and I think Trond Espen is keen to make the king as human as possible out of the legend image. I feel that he has both read and thought a lot and trying to find their king.

Taking back evening performance

The new ensemble will be made new grip on the show. During the last three years has the game gone that night performance. This year Tømta taken back the original night show.

– And some changes. We have done some grip with music, where we have gotten into the brass – and wind instruments again. Also we have received a smaller orchestra, to be able to work more with contrasts. It’s a great story that is told through these people on the farm Sul, we shall reflect in music.

She even remembers the first time she saw the game as a powerful experience. Now she wants to give the audience the same experience and feeling of being a part of history.

– History provides the opportunity to reflect on how we are as people. The play is about securing faith and conviction, but also doubts. In addition, it’s much the most beautiful thing that exists in Christianity, charity principle. That I think Norwegians could well use more energy and think about how we meet others.
