NRK can earn millions of Shame-sales – Campaign

With the sale of “Shame” to Simon Fuller has NRK managed to get entry on the american tv market once again. Fuller is no anyone on the international channels-sky. He runs the tv produksjonselskapet XIX Entertainment, and has previously worked until megasuksesser as “Idol”, “Shall we dance” and not at least the pop success of the Spice Girls.

Håkon Moslet says that the NRK even has a negotiated agreement with Fuller.

It was because the request came directly to us. Simon Fuller got to hear about the “Shame” through Norwegian contacts and the Norwegian music industry. He took direct contact with me and so we have chosen to take the dialogue further, ” he says.

Did the sale even
NRK uses a variety of different distribution companies with respect to the sale of NRK content on the tv-market, be it English DRG, Norwegian Nordic World and the German Beta. But this time, it took Moslet and the NRK job even with good help from their own legal department.

- How did you react to that Fuller took the contact?

My first reaction was that this is completely wild, but when we had our first conference call, I realized that it was a little bit of realism inside the picture and that he had good thoughts for “Shame”. He was in Oslo in the beginning of august, and so there have been negotiations through the autumn.

It is not the first time a Norwegian tv-production turn through on the american market. But as for not many years ago seemed a utopia has become reality with shows like “Maniac”, “Eyewitness”, “The Stream” and now the Shame or “Shame” which the series is to be called in the us market. Where large amounts which may become the property of the NRK is not known, but such a Campaign knows the market, the Norwegian allmennkringkasteren get a percentage of the produksjonsbudsjettet, a so-called formatavgift, this is usually in the range of five to ten per cent.

Can earn a few million
If Fuller and his production company manages to sell the series to a tv channel or one of the large networks, the size of the produksjonsbudsjettet determine the amount that will be ticking into The account. Sources Campaign has been in kon takt think with, think it could be that “if a million”.

What is the meaning of this agreement financially for the NRK?

- It is very early to say anything about it. This is an options contract, and there are as with all sales – it is only when it becomes a production that there will be no economy in it. It is not our focus. NRK aims to create content in the world. This is a concrete proof that we can do it. It is a recognition to the whole of the NRK and the Norwegian tv-industry. I think that is more important than the money that can come in.

- It is not the way that the money rolls into your account now?

- There is no big money now.

- we are Talking a few million if the series goes into production?

When it comes to agreements, I will never comment on enkeltsummer or enkeltkontrakter. What I can say, is that it so far has not generated large sums of money for NRK. But it means a lot for The reputation to have made the year’s most talked about series.

- Nice if it gives some income
Former has NRK sold “Shame” to a number of countries, but then it has been to talk about that it is the Norwegian version shown in abroad. It has, among other things, “Shame” has been a huge success in Denmark.

- Can “Shame” be a great shop for NRK?

I will not speculate around it. This is a joyous day in the NRK and a day where we are extra proud. Now put it in motion a process that we hope ends with a “Shame”-production in the united STATES. If it brings any revenue to the BBC, so it’s nice, but it is not the focus.

Fuller is behind productions like “Idol”, “So You Think You Can Dance”, “S Club 7″ and he has been behind the Spice Girls. It is a small distance from there to the “Shame”?

- Certainly, it is a piece of. But we’re talking about a guy who has very popkulturell flair. It is the wind that brought him to Oslo, because it was manufactured by a dramaserie not like anything he had seen before. It made him genuinely curious. It is the wind which means that he now sits with this agreement.

- How much influence you will have on the u.s. production?

- We hope it will be as good as possible, but ultimately this is not a co-production. It will be his company, XIX Entertainment Entertainment, which stands for the.

- Norwegian tv is hot
One who knows the international tv-market good, is the managing director of the Nordic World, Espen Husebye. He was, among other things, to sell “The Stream” to NBC.

For the first it is just to congratulate the Norwegian broadcasting corporation with a incredibly great series and for what it is worth. At the same time, this is enough of a success for the Norwegian content. It shows that the Norwegian and nordic content is hot for the time, ” he says.

He does not think it will stop with “The Stream” and “Shame”.

I have just been in the united STATES and are completely sure that there’s more to come about not so long, ” he says.
