The New York Times about the Shame: Will it translate? – Aftenposten

– Will it translate? That is the question the american storavisen the New York Times asks in an article that explains the concept behind Shame that is now to be made available to american TV viewers.

In a long article trying the newspaper to explain the Norwegian phenomenon for its readers. The newspaper describes the series as “emotionally intense and real web and TV series”, which is about a group of Norwegian youth’s encounter with sex, school, alcohol, depression, rape, religion and status, to name a few.

The american TV producer Simon Fuller, the company owns XIX Entertainment who purchased the series. He says to the newspaper that they will try to recreate the series on multiple platforms.

The Norwegian version of Shame already has followers all over the world, and thousands of danes, swedes, americans, russians and brits clicks weekly on Shames website.

They come from New Zealand, Angola and the Philippines. What have they in common? They love Shame!

After the news of the u.s. the remake came, did not let the reactions in the social media wait on themselves. Many believe it is enough to caption the Norwegian version.

– We already have an american show about american teenagers, ” says a Twitter user.

– We don’t need an american version of Shame, we only need 10 seasons of the original, ” says another Shamefan.

It is not just English-speaking viewers who will have originalserien subtitled.

While those who have wanted an american version can rejoice.
