Season Opening of “Game of Thrones”: The blood tough ladies dancing – Dagbladet.no

Winter has come to Westeros and Esso, in the first episode of “Game of Thrones” Season Six.

If not literally (it’s still sunny in King’s Landing), then at least figuratively. Darkness has descended on virtually all of our heroes, and the amount of grief, fear and skamslåtte limbs are almost enough to satisfy yourself a sadist who Ramsay Bolton.

Though, if he was not particularly bad looking yourself.

Spoiler warning: Do not read on if you do not want to know what happened last season. Some details about the contents of the latest episode will also get here, but we’ll try not to spoil it for those who have not seen it yet.

To the Point

Tonight at 3:00, it was the world premiere of the first episode of the new season. Among the fans have expectations been greater than ever, as the television series now moves past the literary writ, George RR Martin’s book series “A Song of Ice and Fire.” Martin is not yet finished writing the sixth book in the series, and here tells the story on the big screen first.

final episode of the fifth season ended with a cliffhanger of dimensions when viewing darling Jon Snow was stabbed by disgruntled minions in The Night Watch. Whether he is dead or alive, or possible to revive has been hotly debated among fans since, despite the fact that both the actor Kit Harington and other production has insisted that the result of the stabbing was fatal.

In this round we should hardly reveal more than that Kit Harington is the cast of the new episode, which goes straight to the crux. This is not a series that has time to pull out the action, it is too much to be told to do so.

And for many other deaths we will visit: Myrcella Baratheon, love child of Jaime and Cersei, was definitely too good for this world. Myranda, Ramsay Bolton’s girlfriend, was not it, but she will be honored with a surprisingly sorrowful farewell speech and promises of revenge on those who pushed her in death: runaway Sansa and Theon should run fast in the deep snow.

Typical season opens

“The Red Woman” is a typical season opens in “Game of Thrones” universe, with a bit of everything: We get dozens of brutal new killings, some snappy dialogues, massive, statistttunge general photos and a few monologues about power and leadership, as befits. Some chilling black magic, as well as a touching, new alliance has also been space. Some surprises, but not the greatest. This is primarily an episode that prepares the ground for the battles that will come later.

Therefore we get threats, retaliation promises and declarations of war in a row, and an almost punctually litany of obstacles and challenges, for both heroes and anti-heroes: “We need all the help we can get” says Davos Seaworth, seconds before his former nemesis, Melisandre, knocking on the door of Castle Black. “You can not fight an enemy you do not know” , says Vary to Tyrion, before rounding a corner in Meereen, and suddenly get an excess poignant reminder enough danger they do not know well as they should.

Ladies dance

Episode title refers to Lady Melisandre – “the Red Woman” – which stands for both symbol heavy and light shock goal scene. But the title could also have a metaphorical significance, for this was the blood tough ladies dancing. An episode full of weak, bewildered men and hard-hitting women, whether we are in Castle Black, outside Winterfell, in Dorne and Susi, not to talk about on the plains outside Meereen.

Daenerys was surrounded and captured by Dothraki-riders at the end of the previous episode. Thus, she’s back where she started when we met her in the very first season – one broad-mouthed and barbrystet wild party property. When riders in khalasaren swings the whip and talking about what they like to do with her when evening comes, it is easy to think “not again” . But the little parsley leaf who was raped by Khal Drogo on her wedding night, was another than drag queen we are dealing with now. Are we seeing a feminist awakening in macho camp? It is allowed to hope.

The review is based on the first episode of the television series.
