Not prepared for success – Page2

Haugesund (Page2): Director Iram Haq was Amanda-nominated feature film debut “I am yours.” Since opening in August last year, she has received much positive publicity, and was selected as Norway’s Oscar candidate this year. The film had its world premiere in Toronto and has won several awards internationally.

Page2 meet her just before she is to go home from the Norwegian Film Festival in Haugesund. Although there were some Amanda Award, she had fun Saturday night.

– It was a very good party with lots of dancing, she laughs.



– An incredible journey

She says that past year has been special.

– It has been an incredible journey. academic and very exciting. I have been on many trips and met interesting people, she says .

The many good feedback, she was not quite prepared for.

– It is amazing! far above what I had expected. I wanted to tell a story about a woman who wants to be loved, but ends up in destructiveness. I am so glad that the affected and hit more people emotionally. And so it is fantastic with everything else that has come as well, she says.

Do again

She ‘ve heard from several that they recognize themselves in the main character Minas history, in different ways.

– Some have come away saying that they recognize. Not only in Norway, also in Canada, Sweden, USA and Serbia, for example. Some have cried when they come out, she said.

But the feedback she would get, she thinks as she does not make the movie .

– I can not think of what others will think. I must think that I am true to my stories, and do not make films to “please” anyone.

Ready for new film

Currently Haq started with a new film., but she will not say much about it yet .

– It is a coming of age film. I have started writing the work and have gone a little way, she says.

She appreciates being in the Norwegian film industry.

– I find it very interesting how the Norwegian film has evolved over the past 10-15 years. There are many talented filmmakers. It’s fun being abroad and hear how good movies coming from Norway and Scandinavia is, she says.
