Cliff Richard rejects abuse accusations – Aftenposten

The police have not arrested anyone in connection with the search and Cliff Richard who is traveling abroad, says that the allegations are completely false, reports the BBC.

A police spokesman said Thursday afternoon that no person has been arrested in the case, and that Cliff Richard himself was not present at the property in Berkshire during the raid.

Will work

– For several months I have been familiar with the allegations that have circulated on social media online about events that should have happened long ago. This is totally false. Until now I have chosen not to give these untrue rumors any attention, since it will only fueling them. But since the police have been in my apartment in Berkshire today without notice, will now appear in the press, says Cliff Richard in a statement.

– I’m not in the UK at the moment, but will of course cooperate with the police if they want to talk to me. Beyond saying that the current allegations are completely false, I will say no more about this until the police are ready with their investigation.

In Portugal

According to the Daily Mail Richard is currently on holiday in Portugal. The newspaper writes that police took a number of items from the house for further investigation.

– A search warrant was issued after police received a review of an incident of a sexual nature that dates back to the 1980s and must have involved a boy who was then 16 years old, said police spokesman said.

The spokesman also stated that this case has no connection to the so-called Operation Yewtree, the great unfolding allegations of sexual crimes and abuse against children who are now under investigation, and that involved several British media celebrities like Jimmy Savile and others.
