Editors Club in TV2 discourages members to take severance package – VG

Editors Club TV 2 is disappointed by the size of the final package, all employees have been offered.

Earlier this month, a new strategic plan for TV 2 presented to the employees. It involves cuts of 350 million, and severance to all. After a discussion round on a final package sits a disgruntled newsroom club in TV 2.

– There are a limited severance package, an offer that comes in 2016. But we are not satisfied with the results after negotiations. For example, poorer than employees of VG were offered in its final package. We are disappointed at the size of the severance package in itself. It is not something to brag about, says club leader Henrikke Helland VG continues:

– We have sent out an e-mail to our members where we advise them to take the severance package because it is so poor.

Unclear scope

The club also believes that is a demanding labor market in western Norway, which they recorded during the negotiations but which are not reflected in the final packages.

– Do you know anything about how many FTEs must away?

– We do not know the extent of downsizing. What we do know is that savings as envisaged will run for several years, until 2020.

How downsizing will take place will have discussions about later, but the editorial team are clear that they want voluntary solution, or that seniority principle will remain the basis for any redundancies.

– we have no idea what it would entail in relation to redundancies, which we are completely destitute.

TV 2: The package is good

Organisation and communication director at TV 2, Sarah Willand, told VG that she that dialogue with the unions has been good, but they have been too far apart that they have managed to land on an agreed model.

– we have had several discussions with employee representatives with us unless we have managed to agree on a deal that clubs want to get behind.

– the club believes that package is too small – what thoughts do yourselves around this?

– I have respect for the fact that their task in such a situation is to discuss forward so generous packages as possible for its members. For us it was important to see the rest of the industry in addition to the facility to be correct in relation to TV 2′s situation now and in the future. In that perspective, we find that the offer expires today keeps a good level compared to the rest of the industry. We should of course preferably hat clubs endorse the packages, but we managed unfortunately not this time.

Willand states that severance package offer is valid through August this year, and that TV 2 is important to arrive at most potential volunteers solutions in this situation.

Neither the editorial team or TV2 wants to comment on the contents of the severance package, but according Willand model is based on a combination of restructuring aid and income support based on seniority and age.

Under VG reorganization earlier this year, which Helland refers, given employees the opportunity to apply for severance packages. VG offered its employees three different possibilities: In one could get a salary and job counseling for up to 16 months – assuming you did not get a new job. The second option was that one could get continuing education of up to 24 months by 50 percent wage. The third option was the immediate termination of employment and up to nine months’ salary.
