the Snow falls idyllic down on an old, cosy wooden house. Postkortidyll of a christmas from a bygone era is complete from the first scene.

Carpenter Andersen and santa claus is a well-known and loved children’s book by Alf pr ¿ysen, which was first published in 1957. Now the story has been film.

Then we’ll just live with the fact that it is the slope, and that the film is shot in Romania, far from the christmas spirit. Fortunately, it is not visible. For the filmmakers have really managed to conjure back in time to a christmas spirit before all the lavish and gaudy plastjulepynten.

Nice tidskoloritt

Tidskoloritten is in place, and thus also the traditional gender roles. Here stock Mrs Andersen (Ingeborg Sundrehagen Raustøl) julematen, while carpenter Andersen (Trond Espen Seim) rotate it to with all the hassle about santa claus. It is classic and traditional, and it is also the film.

Director Terje Rangnes has created a finely-tuned and nostalgic julefilm. Maybe a little mimring about a simpler time is exactly what we need in these times. The story is uncomplicated and tightly told without many weak spots.

the Movie is only 1 hour and 10 minutes long. It is nice, for, strictly speaking, it is happening not so much. The most fast-paced scene is as the detachment whizzes down the hill on sleds, collide with a tree and meet the Santa claus, delightfully played by Anders Baasmo Christiansen.

Harmless and cozy

In an uncomplicated film like this with the snuggle in the centre is the mood and atmosphere is important. Do you think a traditional image of christmas is suffocating and nauseating, is the probability high that you are going to put this movie in vrangstrupen.

For others, this adventure will be just what you need. Here you will get the romantic and idyllic image of the holiday season. For even though the christmas tree goes expelled, and finserviset goes in thousand pieces, is the morale good. It is friendship and family is the most important.

Some of the actors struggle with Prøysens hedmarksdialekt, so maybe it had been best to have the dialogue on ‘ own dialect. Otherwise, Carpenter Andersen and Santa claus is a sweet, warm, småmorsom and evocative julehistorie both children and adults can enjoy.
