45 minutes sleep can quintuple memory – Adresseavisen

Researchers at Saarland University in Germany have examined how a nap during the day affect your ability to remember recently acquired knowledge. The result was startling.

– A brief nap at the office or school significantly improves learning, says Professor Axel Meckling to the British newspaper Daily Mail .

45 minutes of sleep in the daytime can quintuple ability to remember things you have just learned, concludes the German researchers.

The subjects were first put to cram a number of words. Then got some of them see the film, while others lay down to sleep. When they were tested afterwards, it turned out that those who had slept remembered significantly more words than those who had not slept.
