WATCH VIDEO MORE DOWN IN THE MATTER!

– It goes without saying that when we travel to mark Sami practitioners, we have with us the Saami flag. It has with us in your suitcase and we also hope to have it with us into Globen, says sametingsråd Henrik Olsen told NRK.

Then it may well be that we will see you waving it Sami flag even though it is forbidden?

– Sure. We will of course try to take the flag into and thus highlight the Sami presence when we have such a prominent Sami artist on stage, explains Olsen.

Permitted with non-national flags

when the Sami artist Agnete Johnsen will perform in the Eurovision Song Contest, it forbidden for the public to wave the Sami flag.

Music Competition rules say that only allowed with flags of the participating countries, from countries that have previously participated, or from countries who are full member of the UN.

– Technically it’s right there, since the Sami flag is not part of the United Nations or are represented in the Eurovision Song Contest. I understand that the issue can arouse emotions since Agnete Sami roots, said Paul Jordan, Head of Communications for the Eurovision Song Contest to SR Sameradion in Sweden.

Anna Rebekah Noste can not understand why the Sami flag is prohibited, while other flags are not it.

– I find it a little strange that other countries will use their flags, while we do not get it.

– For me it is important that we are Sami and we want to show that we exist, emphasizes Ine Porsanger.

Rainbow flag is allowed

the question has started a debate, partly because Wales’ flag is not allowed, despite being one of Britain participants come just from Wales.

In addition to the Sami and Welsh flag include the flag of Palestine, the Basque Country, Crimea, Northern Cyprus and iS prohibited. Neither the Scottish flag would be permissible if it had been possible to use it.
