Great celebration of Pondus’ its 20th anniversary – NRK

Frode Øverli Pondus is celebrating its 20th anniversary at Oscarsborg Fortress. Pondus fans can experience a major exhibition with the Øverli themselves consider their best streaks.

It is not only original Pondus strips fans can see. Several of Øverli cartoon colleagues are also helping to honor cartoonist to exhibit streaks that have previously appeared in the magazine.

Exciting and educational

Frode Øverli tells NRK that time Pondus -Lockers has been very exciting, and that the job has taught him a lot as a cartoonist.

– I had worked with cartoons for ten years, but it was only after the strip was published in Dagbladet that it really took off . I had staked almost everything on Pondus, and to see that it got a foothold in the newspaper was very rewarding.

Øverli believe that the secret to success with Pondus is that very many people can recognize themselves in the characters.

– Much of what happens in Pondus can enough experience in their own lives, but of course also twisted into something readers will hopefully think is fun to read about.

It has been important for Øverli that the characters in Pondus changes.

– With a strip series that should go in a certain time, it is important that it happens new things, so that the series remains interesting both for me and the readers, so this has been a decision was made to keep it alive.

Have been a great inspiration

For Nils Axle Kanten has Frode Øverli and Amalie meant very much. He says that when Pondus opened a new world for him.

– Pondus was for me the first Norwegian strip I really had to follow. It was a new type of humor that was a little tougher than the usual American bloke who was published in the newspapers. Pondus was rougher around the edges, more uncensored.

Pondus paved the way for Kantens own cartoon “Hjalmar” he explains.

– The style appealed to me. He drew spiritedness and cool, I was inspired by that one could make stripes on the way there.
