“Lego” director stock TV series about “Serial” – NRK

Radar pair Christopher Miller and Phil Lord has grown to become one of Hollywood’s most secure card, with critically and box office successes as “21 Jump Street” and “Lego Film” on your resume.

Now they will bring NPR podcast phenomenon “Serial” from the TV screen, reports Deadline Hollywood.

Being behind the scenes

The series will provide a glimpse behind the scenes in the newsroom who created the podcast phenomenon, but will most likely not be about the murder case from 2000, where Adnan Syed was convicted for the murder of ex-Hae Min Lee.

Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder, who produced the podcast of the radio station WBEZ, joins the team as co-producers.

– Chris and Phil has an unexpected approach to storytelling, and it appeals to us in Serial. To develop a series of them is exciting because we feel that we speak the same language, only that they’re smarter than us, says Snyder to the website.

– Obsessed podcast

Head of production company Fox 21 Television Studios, Bert Salk, says that he has long dreamed to bring ‘Serial’ to the screen.

– From the very first week were all on Fox 21 TV obsessed podcast, says Salka to Deadline.

Now begins the search for a writer who can rework podcast series to a dramatized history.

– We are confident that we will attract a spectacular screenplay looking forward to pitching the series to distributors shortly, says Salka.

Immediate success

“Serial” was an almost instant success when the series premiered in autumn 2014 and quickly became the most downloaded podcast on Itunes.

Earlier this year could manufacturers collect the prestigious Peabody Award, which was first awarded a podcast.

Director-duo Miller and Lord is also behind the TV series Last Man on Earth, and is planned to direct the film about the Star Wars hero Han Solo’s youth, which is due to arrive in theaters in 2018.
