Nobel concert moves to the Telenor arena – NRK

The annual Nobel concert will for the first time this year held in Telenor Arena at Fornebu, with 15,000 seats. After 20 years of peace concerts in Oslo Spektrum will nobel boss now renew and change.

– We want to make the concert more accessible, says Olav Njølstad, Chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize Research and Information AS and director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, NRK.

– Telenor Arena, we can cater for more guests thus offering tickets at a cheaper price. We believe may be of interest, not least for families with children, he said.

Criticized for being elitist

Too little popular and elitist has been some of the criticism of the event in the past years.

– The concert is in a form of identity crisis. Man has tried to bite off a little too much and it has been difficult to understand what type of concert it really is, says Mads Borch Bugge, music director of NRK P3.

The prestigious concert has also been a shortfall undertaking. Now new sponsorship contracts and hopefully increased ticket sales reverse the trend.

– The last few years have been difficult for the concert financially so this is also a consequence of it, says Njølstad hoping to fill Telenor Arena in December.
