DiCaprio vil lage film om Volkswagen-skandalen – Dagbladet.no

(Dagbladet): It is a first step on a long road, but a clear sign of interest when a company secures film rights to a book. And the last future scandals linked to the Volkswagen Group arouse strong interest also in Hollywood.

Now namely Appian Way, Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company, bought the rights to a book about bilbråket in collaboration with Paramount Films.

It’s New York Times journalist Jack Ewing behind bokplanene, but the book is about not yet begun.

Volkswagen has famously been in trouble since mid-September, when it emerged that the company has installed cheating software tampering with emissions data when the cars tested for emissions. Also Audi has been dragged into the huge scandal.

Volkswagen has been forced to withdraw as many as five million cars, CEOs have gone by and the company’s stock price has plummeted.

DiCaprio as producer

According Hollywood Reporter will Leonardo DiCaprio, best known as an actor, producing the film along with Appian Way-producer Jennifer Davisson Killoran when the movie again becomes ready for production.

DiCaprio was also among the first to secure the rights to Jo Nesbø “Blood on the snow,” and the actual end up starring in the film adaptation.

Appian Way was also behind DiCaprio’s success film “The Wolf of Wall Street,” directed by Martin Scorsese.
