To Trøndelag Teater be a cultural or commercial activities?
Tuesday 1. november saw the headlines in Dagbladet, Adresseavisen, NRK – Trøndelag and VG as follows:
“Josefine Frida Pettersen from “Shame” will be playing “Samantha Fox”.
“Shame-Josefine is Samantha Fox”.
And “Shame-actor to the theatre”.
I was simply disappointed.

What happened, was that the director and scriptwriter, Mads Bones, had made contact with the actress Josefine Frida Pettersen and offered her a role in this spring’s major musical “Robin Hood – the Rai the Rai in Sherwoodskogen” at Trøndelag Theatre.
This I feel is completely wrong, even though I myself am a big fan of Miller in the role she plays in the tv series “Shame”.
Pettersen has no teatererfaring from before, something many have.
I know that there are many talented people out there with a lot of experience.
They work very hard and are most likely more competent for the role of Josefine Pettersen has been at the theatre.

What to bring “Shame”-the celebrity is most likely a move for the theater to lure the audience, and especially an age group that is not so much on theatre: Youth.
Trøndelag Theatre has a wide repertoire, a very talentfullt ensemble, and delivers pieces of high quality.
To have a celebrity on the big musical is the only commercial operations.
It gets boring if the Trøndelag Theater the new Folketeateret, where one is promoting more for kjendisnavnene that is in a piece than one is promoting the actual content in the piece.
