Digital mailboxes
Melhus municipality has long mediated digital mail to citizens and businesses through KS SvarUT, which sends the mail to the recipient in Altinn. This is a solution many know from the tax settlement.

Now we can also convey mail our citizens through the public solution for “Digital mailbox for citizens.” This is a voluntary, secure solution for receiving and storing important mail digitally, both from private and public enterprises. As a resident, you can receive mail through two alternative providers of digital mailbox; Digipost or e-Boks.

Mailboxes are equal and both meet strict safety requirements. It is free to create and use your mailbox, and you can easily switch mailbox later if you wish.

How it works
Melhus municipality sends mail Altinn, e-Boks or Digipost, whichever solution you have chosen. The current provider will then send you a link that directs you to your record.
In Altinn you need to download and save the document on your computer or separate storage device.
Do you use e-Boks or Digipost you can open the document and then save it in your mailbox.
All solutions send you notifications received documents via sms and email.

In Altinn is automatically registered, unless you actively opt out. If you do not make an active choice of digital mailbox, the mail from the municipality to get to your message box in Altinn. If you have not read the digital record in Altinn within two days, the printed and sent as paper mail. Have you registered with your e-Boks or Digipost, you get no paper version.

It is citizen himself who chooses a digital mailbox. This is easily accomplished by going into Norge.no.

If you want to receive any letter from the public on paper, you need to opt out of online communication. You can do so here.

There are only individuals who have the opportunity to opt out of receiving digital mail from the public.
