Two years after she was castigated by TV viewers and experts who figure skating commentator, speaking Dorthe Skappel (53) for the first time about how betrayed she felt.
Throughout its 20 years in TV 2 Skappel stood in the storm more than once. But never has she been so hard hit that when she debuted as a commentator for figure skating at the Olympics in Sochi in February 2014.

already after first broadcast ended Skappel up as a reference by all major media in Norway. Reviews hail, and both she and TV2 received massive refs not to take figure skating seriously. Experts used descriptions such as “embarrassing,” “erroneous,” “silly and sad,” “nonsense” and “a defeat for sports journalism.”
Dorthe even avoided debate : – Forget it!
it took several months before Skappel commented resurrection in the press and admitted where bones tough, she thought it was. Never before has she talked about how angry she was at the employer of it all.
Speaking out in Kloppen
There is, however, evident in the season premiere on TV2′s own suite “One evening at Kloppen” 2. Easter Sunday.
in conversation with presenter Solveig Kloppen (44) facilitates Skappel on pressure. She says that she does not remember everything people said, but that it was “a hell”.

Skappel says that she went down at Ekeberg, where she lives.
– As I stood there with the dog mi cried hard as I could. I thought if I can at least get out one way or another … And then I decided that I would carry these broadcasts. And I did. And I was so mad . I was so angry.

When Kloppen ask who she was mad at, the answer comes quickly:
– I was angry at TV 2. I was furious TV 2. for it is something that you give me – excuse the expression – hell no mandated water and are not built for it afterwards. When you stand up for me and said that it was this mandate she received. It was we wanted her to do. We made a mistake, we should not have done it. But she has done the job we asked her to do. And when they stood in the back on me then, Hell take them, Thus says Skappel.

in the statement VG and other media received from TV2 at the time, explained the channel that Skappel and Tornell was “characterized by nerves” and that they should go carefully through the broadcast in terms of improvements.
– They promise to come back stronger, sounded from Christine Espeland, project manager for the Olympics on TV 2, which specified that Skappel was fresh as a commentator, and that she was chosen because she has a “little different look” .

– we had a close dialogue with Dorthe along and thought she did a good job under the mandate she was given. we see in hindsight that we could have been even clearer in this, not least outwardly. Dorthe is one of the ablest and most popular profiles on TV2 through very many years and have the channel’s full support, says Dahl told VG.
Communication manager, who was himself involved in the work of Sochi, said that the channel had a thorough evaluation of the case.
– the result we hold internally, but we have been in close dialogue with Dorthe in the process.

Report on TV2 : – Hazard
Dagens Næringsliv newspaper recently reported a recent report from management development center AFF, where it appears that the work environment in TV 2 presents a health risk. In that context will also channel management criticism.
The report is a result of that TV channel even ordered a risk assessment and proposals for action by the Labour Inspectorate some time ago revealed a fear culture at TV 2 in Bergen. It specifically describes news and sports editors and concludes according to DN including that management is absent and distant.
– AFF report is prepared on the basis of a routine supervision Arbeidstilsynet had two divisions with us in Bergen . The report relates mainly to these two departments, and there is thus no direct link between this case and the findings of the report. That said, we are keen to learn from the situations that arise, and see if there is anything we can do better next time. We have also done in this case, says Sarah Willand, organizational and communication director at TV2, VG.
Skappel not want to elaborate on television statements to VG. Christine Espeland would also refrain from commenting beyond that Dahl stated.
