NRK-profile Carina Olset am overwhelmed feedback after she came forward with the severe intestinal disease.
SEOGHØR.NO: Earlier this week surprised NRK Sport Carina Olset (33) by speaking openly about their chronic bowel disease, ulcerative colitis.
During a lecture on the occasion of the annual IBD Day, which focuses on serious digestive diseases, told NRK-profile openly about how the disease affects her life.
After the lecture she held for the National Association against digestive disorders (LMF), is She was praised for openness, according to Dagbladet and northern lights.
Thursday, she visited the radio program “Norway Glass” on NRK P1, where she talked about the response she received afterwards.
– There has been absolutely overwhelming, and very, very positive feedback. Also from people who have the disease, saying that they have got the courage to tell the chief that they need a place a little closer to the toilet, for example … Things that make life much, much easier for people who are affected.
– All response has made it worth it to stand up, just like I can help a little bit, says Carina emphatically in “Norway Glass”.

Thought it was cancer
In the radio program elaborated Carina how she first discovered she was ill, during a venninnetur to New York at Easter 2011.
– I had very stomachache and got blood in stool . And then I had to frequent the toilet, so everywhere in Manhattan I looked frantically for toilets. I was a little scared, because I have family with history of bowel cancer. So I went straight to the doctor when I got home because I thought the it was, she says in “Norway Glass”.
In Norway, about 17 500 people affected by ulcerative colitis, but NRK profile had never heard of the disease before she was diagnosed.

In autumn 2013 had morphed and sports journalist’s first serious outbreak of disease, and for a while she struggled with eating. At the same time she went to the toilet between 30 and 40 times a day.
– I was tested for several things during the winter last year. It was also when I started to lose control, compared to the going to the bathroom. I have since then passed around with an “nødpose” in the bag. The chronic disease has led both ups and downs in recent years, but Carina has nevertheless tried to work as much as possible – also contrary to the doctor’s recommendations.

Prior to the assignment she had taken all possible precautions. She had not eaten anything in particular, avoided coffee and been an extra time to the bathroom, just in case. But when stomach cramps came towards the end of the national anthem, there was nothing she could do.
In the radio program explains the tough 33-year-old how she managed to tell about the embarrassing incident on the football public.
– I’ve thought a lot about it happened. And I have told about it to close friends and family, we have smiled it, so just the episode has been gathered done. But it is terrible and degrading, I get the sad and sorry, she tells NRK P1 program.
Carina Olset emphasizes that the episode was a victory for her, since she did not let the disease control what she could and could not do.
Private is the great broadcaster girlfriend with Jan Fredrik Bjørntvedt (38), who she fell for the job. After Carina worked with the soccer World Cup last year, dragged the two vacationing together.
– I’ve always worked hard during the summer, so I often think of football and National Shooting Reunion when I think of summer.
