Sweden to lead the Eurovision – Norway eighth – Dagsavisen

By Alexander Vestrum

It as long as if Russia were to walk away with the victory ahead of Sweden, but eventually it became clear that Sweden won almost a league of victory. Russia held the second place, and Italy was third.

Sixth Swedish victory

Sweden won the Eurovision Song Contest five times previously, first time when Abba went to the top with “Waterloo” in 1974 and no later than three years ago when Loreen took first prize with “Euphoria”.

– I have so much I wanted to say, but the important thing now is that we are all heroes, said jubilant Måns Zelmerlöw when he came on stage after the victory was a fact.

Sweden was widely seen as favorite in this year’s final, but Russia caught up with the game companies’ odds lists.

Stroke Gubbe

Thanks to a strong performance, with an unusual stage show, where a line gubbe played a central role, gleaned Zelmerlöw ultimately the most points of all 355 combined. Russian Polina Gagarina ended with 305 points, while the Italian trio Il Volo got 292.

Last year’s winner Austria, who was represented by the trio The Makemakes, ended without points in Saturday’s final.

Also Germany, who recently won in 2010 and fielded artist Ann Sophie, ended pointless.

Ready to celebrate

Norway’s contribution, “A Monster Like Me” performed by Kjetil Morland and Scarlett Debrah, received 102 points, which kept to an 8th place.

– I feel relieved and very happy and ready to just celebrate, says Kjetil Morland said.

– Now we just enjoy ourselves with them we are very happy in, he said.

The aim of the duo were the top ten, and the two are by no means satisfied with the location.

Songwriter Price to Morland

Before the show Saturday night received Mørland songwriter award in Marcel Bezencon Awards. The song became his been among all year participating composers.

– It means a lot for me, just as much as to do well in Eurovision. Initially I sent the song as a songwriter, but then I changed my mind, says Morland.

Duet Partner Debrah Scarlett took the opportunity to praise the winner Måns Zerlmerlöw, as the two have been good familiar with during your time in Vienna.

– He is incredibly clever. He sings very well and performance was “spot on.” It’s pretty special that all movements have something to say, so if he goes a few centimeters away and sing differently, works there. It truly unique, says Debrah Scarlett. (NTB)
