She married a crown prince in 1968, was enthroned in 1991. Today fills Norwegian queen 78 years!

Queen Sonja was born Sonja Haraldsen in Oslo on 4 July 1937. She met the then Crown Prince Harald in 1959, became Crown Princess when the two married in 1968.
In 1991 she became queen, when King Olav died, and in January next year celebrates royal couple 25 years on the Norwegian throne.
A hectic year
The past year has been hectic for the queen. She was present during the historic visit of India in connection with the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize. In addition, she has held a number of art exhibitions, but not least, she has been involved in this year’s Prince’s wedding in Sweden last month.

The Queen was present at World’s End on Tjøme when Lightship National showed the exhibition “Melankol in a sea of plastic”.

Concerned art
Her Majesty has since a young age been busy of modern art, and has meant a lot for many Norwegian artists. In 2001-2002, her private exhibition on display at the Heine Onstad-Musset in Oslo, where one could find paintings from artists such as Andy Warhol, Inger Sitter, Leonard Rickhard and Kjell Nupen.
