Munch Museum’s latest exhibition opened at the solemn view.
Saturday morning it was time for the official opening of “Van Gogh + Munch” by Munch Museum in the capital, and it was Queen Sonja (77) and Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands (77) which unveiled it all. Oslo Mayor Fabian Stang led them safely up the red carpet.
“Van Gogh + Munch” taking over the baton from “Melgaard + Munch”, which has hosted the Munch Museum in the last three months. The controversial exhibition was seen by over 35,500 visitors. Munch Museum betting that almost 100,000 heading to see the new exhibit, where images of Edvard Munch and Vincent van Gogh Van stand side by side. This is not an everyday occurrence:
– Van Gogh and Munch has never been shown together before in such a context. Art world has long been waiting for an exhibition like this has curator Magne Bruteig stated VG.

So this is the first time the two artists exhibited together in this country, and the Royals had consequently dressed up for the occasion. Queen Sonja wore a green suit, topped with a hat of the same color, while Princess Beatrix went for a darker outfit – she also with a stylish hat on her head.
After the opening ceremony, the two royal ushered into to get a tour of kunstutsillingen, who got a solid five on the dice of VG reviewer. Queen Sonja is known to be very interested in art. She herself is telling, in 2012 was the debut exhibition “Three trips – Three landscape” exhibited at Henie Onstad Art Centre. At that time she worked closely with her now deceased artist friend Kjell Nupen, who was also part of the exhibition which was set up in Tjøme two years ago.

Saturday’s exhibition opening at the Munch Museum is just one of many tasks for the queen this spring: She has a packed program ahead of them, and precisely why had Mette-Marit quiet as a substitute for her earlier this week: Crown Princess opened the art biennial in Venice in glorious sunshine.
