Golden Bear for refugee film – Dagsavisen

BERLIN (Dagsavisen): A film festival in the shadow of refugees could not end in a different way. For ten days, the Berlinale, the Berlin Film Festival, discussed refugee issues, shown films on the topic and collected money and political support for efforts to find a future for those escaping war and persecution. Ever since it appeared early in the competition program was filmmaker Gianfranco Rosi “Fuocoammare” ( “Fire At Sea”) big favorite to win the greatest prize.  Silver Bear for best screenplay went to Tomasz Wasilewski and movie “United States Of Love,” while Mark Lee Ping Bing got the artistic award for Best Cinematography at the Chinese movie “Cross Current”. And “Hedi” by Mohamed Ben Attia, a Tunisian relationship drama set in the light of the revolution, won two awards, for best debut work as well as the male actor award to Majd Mastour, who in his acceptance speech dedicated the prize to those who chose martyrdom during the Tunisian revolution.

 
 

Challenging politicians

 
 



 Gianfranco won the greatest prize is also a victory for the documentary genre, and Rosi took the opportunity to point out the political aspect of the film’s theme. Golden Bear winner, several times during the festival come with strong warnings to Europe’s politicians to realize their responsibility for the people who are displaced. He dedicated the prize to just the refugees and to the fishermen on Lampedusa.
