Kanye West let out his new album only on Tidal – was “punished” by the pirates – Tek.no

Music Streaming Services are mostly popular among consumers, but exclusivity is usually not something that is well received among consumers, which the renowned rap artist Kanye West recently experienced.

As TorrentFreak reports announced West recently on Twitter that his new album “the Life of Pablo” would only come on stream service Tidal and never offered for sale. This led to discontent and frustration among fans who do not want to subscribe – with “pirate party” as a result.

Despite what Kanye tweeted shall album namely having been put up for sale in a short period, which of course meant that pirated versions instantly appeared on torrent sites. Because of the limited Tidal launch took this version of fairly quickly.

According to TorrentFreak their calculations were pirate version of the album downloaded all 500,000 times only during the first day. On Tuesday was the album on top among the most shared music torrents on The Pirate Bay.



Popular among artists

On Tuesday be the most popular torrent file as well have been divided by 10,000 people simultaneously. This should be among the highest figures ever recorded for a new music launch to date, according to TorrentFreak.

Tidal is quite popular with many artists and was actively promoted by a handful of celebrities in connection with the US launch last year, including just Kanye West. The reason is that Tidal interpreted by many as a better option than Spotify because it does not offer free subscriptions, as well as a separate subscription that provides music in CD quality at double the price.
