Agreement between Canal Digital and Discovery – ABC News

The agreement which was signed in time 5:45 Wednesday night, ensured that all subscribers regained their channels Thursday morning.

– I am primarily glad that we are back on the screen shortly, and I will apologize to viewers who have patiently endured for nearly two weeks. Along with Canal Digital, we have arrived at a solution that enables us to continue to invest in good, Norwegian content, says Harald Stromme, chief of TV Norge and Discovery Networks.

In a half weeks have cable and satellite customers of Telenor-owned Canal Digital and Viasat been without channel package from Discovery. The parties were unable to agree on a new deal for channel package that includes TV Norge, Eurosport, Max and ten Discovery channels.

The new agreement now in the box, the long-term, extending over several years .

Price increase

Around 1 million subscribers at Canal Digital has been hit by black screens on the 13 channel slots.

– Unfortunately, some customers who have chosen to leave us in this period. I will not say how many we are talking about, says Canal Digital’s CEO Kårhus.

– We have agreed a new deal which gives customers predictability and ensures all channels back to the customer. There will be a price increase, but it is not unreasonable, says communications director Kenneth Tjønndal Pettersen Telenor said.

Neither Canal Digital or Discovery wants to deepen the big price increase in question. When customers will notice this price increase, the parties will not answer.

All Canal Digital customers will also have access to a content archive on mobile, tablet, TV and PC / Mac where you can see the most popular programs which were shown while customers did not have access to the channels.
