Finland and Iceland out of Eurovision – NRK

On Tuesday evening fought 18 countries in ten final spots in the first semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm. When the votes from juries and audiences were counted and added together, this was the ten countries which secured a place in the finals.

Azerbaijan, Russia, the Netherlands, Hungary, Croatia, Austria, Armenia, Czech Republic, Cyprus and Malta were the ten who gets to see again on Saturday.

Finnish Sandhja and Icelandic Greta Salome must thus enjoy the final in front of your TV screen, not on stage. NRK met Sandhja tearfully as she walked out of the Globen.

– We did what we could. Song’s budkap is to sing away the pain, and I have always stood for. We would have liked in the final, but I’m very proud of our girls, says Sandhja to NRK.no.

– Have seen Russians visions that have been better

manager in the Norwegian MGP club Morten Thomassen says the biggest surprise is that Iceland does not kvalfiserte themselves.

– largest bomb tonight is that Iceland is there, after they have been at eighth place on betting lists . But it was enough for sad and gloomy on a Tuesday night, says Thomassen.

When it comes to Finland’s fresh and up-tempo contributions “Sing it Away,” shows not Thomassen grace.

– Finland can not be funky. Simply. Perhaps with a glass of vodka, so we are there, he adds.

It is also the first time Greece has not qualified for a finals since semifinal system was launched in 2004. Thomassen is not surprised.

– I have seen Russians visions that have been better. This was simply amateurish, he said.

Greater Favorite and underdog further

On the list of qualifying we also betting favorite Sergey Lazarev from Russia, who before tonight’s semifinal was prepared booing. But his performance received great applause from both the Globe and the press center.

– It is clear that Russia has done nothing to lessen favoritism, says Thomassen.

Until this year’s competition, the Czech Republic never qualified for the finals, and has even managed to get zero points in a semifinal. Now luck turned and Czech Gabriela are now looking at the scene on Saturday. This is GP-president very happy with.

– I am overjoyed that the Czech Republic can finally go home after a semifinal and be happy, he said.
