All council members agree that NRK deserves criticism for having made it difficult for women to participate in public debate, and many perceive sketch retaliation.
– I have not read the criticism of the Broadcasting Council yet, but I think all the appellants, 660 pieces, wants an assurance from NRK that state channel will make it less difficult for women to express themselves, says Jaquesson. She did not even attend the meeting, but it got one of the other petitioners.
Disgust
– We react with disgust that license money used for the production of pornography, said ushers Daisy Elizabeth Sjursø Kvinnefronten.
The petitioners says NRK and social security office harasses women and opponents with their skit, showing two actors prepare sex between presenter Thomas Seltzer and Kari Jaquesson.
Women debate
Almost all Broadcast Council members agree NRK deserves criticism for having made it difficult for women to participate in public debate.
The Director General Thor Gjermund Eriksen emphasized that there has never been NRK’s intent to scare anyone into silence in public.
– We must never reach the point where satire has no place in NRK programs, he said.
“Revenge Porn”
– To create pornosketsjer is not the way to go to invite women to debate. NRK, by Thomas Seltzer, has dealt sense resistors Jaquesson completely unacceptable, under the guise of satire and humor, said Sjursø, also called the sketch “revenge porn.”
Elin Ørjasæter says she for once agree with Kvinnefronten.
– This is to “retaliate” against opponents. Way NRK pulls the name of Kari Jaquesson is not at all funny and NRK has behaved arrogantly in retrospect, she says.
– Platt and sickening
Almost none of the Broadcasting Council seems skit is funny.
– I think it is dull, insipid and nauseating, said Beate Bo Nilsen. Like several others, she finds it aggravating that what she calls harassment, also affects Kari Jaquesson children. Jaquesson approached NRK to stop the skit “in the interests of their minor son”
Kari Jaquesson has previously said to NRK that she would seek legal advice before she eventually reviewer NRK for violating sex trade law or customary laws.
– There considering I still, and I have made contact a lawyer, she says.
NRK refutes revenge
NRK rejects the criticism, saying that there were not at all talk of revenge or attempt to silence the voice of Kari Jaquesson in porn debate.
– But we take petitioners very seriously, said Director of Broadcasting Thor Gjermund Eriksen.
Entertainment Editor Charlo Halvorsen said that the program tries to say something about the limits of infringement in 2015, occasionally in a fun way.
The statement by the Broadcasting Council
“In the program” The Social Security “7/4/15 theme was freedom of speech. At the end of the broadcast was shown a fixture presented as a skit with porn actors. The sketch is introduced as an unsuccessful attempt at satire about taboos in Norwegian public while the reactions in a similar sketch of a previous program also refers. Kari Jaquesson specifically mentioned in the introduction. In the sketch, a porn spoof acting characters “Thomas Seltzer” and “Kari Jack court-son”.
Broadcasting Council commends the editors behind the Social Security Office to have created an arena with room for original voices and views at the intersection of philosophizing, conversation and satire. To have editors contributed to diversity in both form and content.
In this current case believes, however, many complainants that Social Security Office abused his position of power that broadcast to ridicule a critic.
Broadcasting Council believes that it is NRK task to stimulate debate, even if it includes criticism of NRK’s program activities. Women participating in the public debate risks today harassment related to gender, appearance and sexuality. Therefore, it is particularly unfortunate when a named female critic connected to pornography and submission in a way that many women intuitively feel is very stressful. There is a danger that this could scare the public from rebuking institution, intentional or not.
Good satire moves at the limit of what is acceptable and ethical, and sometimes miss it. It last happened in this case. “
