As VG reported yesterday, western girl Aurora Aksnes landed a commercial mission that could have major implications for her career.

The British department store John Lewis’ annual Christmas advertising has great significance for the artist who is picked out, think VG music critic Tor Martin Boe, who also works in the advertising industry.
– This is one of the biggest I have heard about a Norwegian artist ever, says Boe.

You can see the TV commercial here. It has a budget of NOK 13 million, according to The Guardian.
Aksnes even told VG that she was commissioned by something of a coincidence.
– One of John Lewis came on one of my concerts in England, and after that we were told to record this song. And suddenly it was we who were allowed to participate in this year’s Christmas advertising. It is very stately, although I do not really quite know what it is.

Tor Martin Boe elaborates:
– John Lewis campaigns are legendary in the advertising industry, and will be shared that would hell on social media because they are so likeable. And Oasis song Aksnes sings in advertising the film is much more iconic in England than the rest of the world, since the BBC using it as an intro to the sitcom “The Royle Family”.
In a press release that went out Friday morning says John Lewis that the Norwegian 19-year-old is the youngest ever to have fronted their Christmas campaign.

In recent years, established British artists like Ellie Goulding, Lily Allen and Tom Odell assigned .
– Aurora Aksnes’ steady rising fan base and support from trendsetters in the industry has secured her a position as a potential superstar for the 2016, believes department store, which opened its first store in 1864.
John Lewis also highlights that Aksnes already received much playing time on British radio channels, particularly BBC.
The press release says Aksnes that she is excited about the work, not least because she loves Christmas.
– I have prepared the Christmas spirit since March, so it’s been lovely to work with a Christmas advertising in recent weeks. I also think that the message, “show someone that you love them,” is a beautiful message and an important reminder.
