Susan Schneider has spent the past year to find out what drove her husband to take her life.

The widow Williams, Susan Schneider (51), has spent the past year trying to find out more about what exactly was the reason for the death, and now she opens up in a rare interview with magazine People.
It was first known that Williams showed signs of early dementia and that he also had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, but now reveals Schneider that her husband fought against the disease Diffuse Lewy Body Dementia or Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB ) – which are both difficult to detect and treat.
– It was not depression that killed Robin, she says about what is the public perception about what drove the popular actor to commit suicide.
– Depression was just one of, let’s call it, the 50 symptoms and it was a small one, she explains.

DLL, which is often misdiagnosed , is the second most common dementia after Alzheimer’s type. The causes fluctuations in mental status, hallucinations and impaired motor function.
Led by anxiety and delusions
The disease started to get a good hold of Williams last year before his death and included higher levels of anxiety, delusions and impaired mobility, writes the website.
– They present themselves as a pinball machine. One does not know concretely what one has to do, says Susan.
Williams symptoms worsened in the months leading up to his death, and he experienced among other terrible anxiety attacks, muscle stiffness and a wrong assessment of a door that was a bloody event. Still unable doctors to determine exactly what was wrong with him – before the autopsy.
– I know now that the doctors and the whole team did all the right things. It was just that this disease was faster and bigger than all of us.

Susan hopes that she can use what she has learned the DLL to help others.

– I’ve spent the last year trying to figure out what killed Robin. To understand what we fought against, said one of the doctors, Robin was very aware that he was losing his sense and that there was not anything he could do about it, she tells People.
– This was a very unique case and I pray to God that this will shed some light on the disease for the millions of people and their loved ones who suffer from it. For we did not know this. And Robin knew it, she adds.
Robin Williams had a wonderful acting career and won numerous awards for his achievements on canvas. By many he is remembered in films as “Mrs. Doubtfire, “” Good Morning, Vietnam “and” Good Will Hunting. “
Williams was only 63 years old and left behind his wife Susan, daughter Zelda (26) and sons Zak (32) and Cody (24 ).
