The musician Ivar Christian Johansen, better known by his stage name Ravi, coercion according to Dagens Næringsliv P4 to play his music when he visited the studio on Monday.
Ravi was invited into the studio to talk about your sake but got no when he asked that his music was played in the program. Not until the artist put it as a requirement to set, turned the channel.
– We found it a bit unusual and strange claims, said P4 CEO Kenneth Andersen Culture News this morning.
The event now creates debate on social media. On Facebook encourages Ravi now record labels and other artists to follow his example and fight back against rigid playlist rules on radio.
Get Support
Ravi gets support from several quarters during their post, including from record producer Christer Falck.
– that in general, so is what an incredibly simple and ufin things; that a channel is so excited about sponging off others’ celebrity status but is not willing to give something back.
Falck also says that this is not the only example that a radio station has refused to playing guest music.
– There are many examples of artists who have tried to get on P4 for an interview. I have personally had artists like Karen Jo Fields and heavy water as happy people want to talk to, but do not play anything off. Then the part of the point away, says Falck.
– Strange requirements
Kenneth Andersen says it is most common to play the guest music during launch calls.
– what is special in this case is that we wanted to talk with Ravi about the web sake of no one who has pursued social media. A current affairs, he said.
He finds it again that recording artists and organizations believe it is a reasonable requirement to have to play their music to set up a conversation that revolves around what any time.
– Yes, I think that’s the least one can do when you come into the studio. Ravi has lots of hits and taking time off half a day to get to P4 when he could standing in the studio and writing songs, says Knut Aafløy, leader of Norwegian artist associations.
“Nitimen”
But it is not only P4 receiving criticism. “Nitimen” on NRK is another example cited where it can be difficult to get their music on.
It does not know radio boss in NRK, Marius Lillelien, relate to.
– In “Nitimen” it is very common that artists come and play live, and that we set up a proper rig for it, so it was an unknown problem for them, he said.
